The season is getting near. The snow is getting deeper. Who has been out? What are the reports from around the state? Down here in the Beaverhead the hills are looking nice, but no outings as of yet. Bring on the 06-07 season!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ Yosemite

I've been taking care of all the weekend domestic stuff I know won't get done once the snow gets here... it's been windy as hell in Livingston (duh! but more that usual) for the last week. Got a nice little dusting of snow this afternoon. This'll be my first season to backcountry-- new Atomic Janaks with freshly trimmed skins sitting on some TV trays in the middle of my living room. This is the time of year when I'm always waiting for Bridger (or Snowbowl, or Purgatory, wherever I happen to be) to open. I'm hoping to hook up with some turn-earners around here so I won't be so dependent on the ski areas. _________________ May the spirits of the Ancients be with you |

| Ive been up at bridger all weekend for training and would not reccomend it yet. I skied their oct 30 and it was sweet. Skied from the base area to top of PK and back. Yesterday during lift evac practice it was just grass. But it looks like a change of weather is afoot according to NOAA. Muy bien. |

It's windy as heck here in G-Funk (go figure)...the Belt ranges had some good snow, but warm weather isn't helping (ditto on the Highwoods)...it looks like good coverage on some of the northern Rocky Mountain Front peaks, but we need another good storm to solidify them for touring... _________________ El Niņo...it blows... |

The Bridger's have lost most of October's base snow. I would advise waiting for more snow.
Sunday Nov 12th:
For comparison, here's a pic from Oct 31st (good snow, very cold):

Did one lap at tele meadows today. Enough snow to ski but rocks were definitely around. I was game for another lap but no else was. There was about 6+" of fresh over a marginal base. Think we put in the first skin track; didn't see any evidence of others. Needs another storm or two. Fun to get out. |

| Haven't been out on skis yet around Billings, but there is snow in the mtns. Actually, lI'm still hiking some lowland trails. Red Lodge Mtn. reports snow and they are set to open on Nov. 24. I might try and skin up this weekend. |

I'm in Bozeman in spirit. I really love seeing all the updates from home, can't wait to be able to put some pics up of Yurp for all those in Montana though. _________________ Koolaid: Riding in a film canister on the uphill river. |

It looks like the snotels around the state are filling up. A student friend of mine went camping a few days ago, outside Missoula, said that around 9,000' there was easily 3 feet. I'm still trying to get details out of her. Not too much happening down here in the valley, but the hills all around are getting it. Lost Pass looks like it's getting hit pretty good. Any reports from the Soula crowd? _________________ Yosemite |

Should have some reports in by Sunday pm. I understand the tracking crew was packing the trails at Chief Joseph today. Should have a report on that along with a report of Anderson Moutain glades and Lost Trail by Sunday pm. Looking at the snotel, my guess is that it's skinny for T turns even if the predicted strom hits tonight.
Last weekend of hunting season and first big storm, so remind friends to carry a rifle, wear lots of orange and fill that permit. |

| Skied Red Lodge Mtn. for a couple of hours yesterday. Only two runs open, but it was good to make a few turns. As usual, RLM needs pleny of snow. |
