Re: Skin "tuning" suggestions

Skins came in today. They are indeed orange, and package is labeled easy skins "speed". Can't really tell by touch if they're any different though. KIMG1648.JPG KIMG1649.JPG Started by trimming to heel, I had done this to the yellows, didn't make much of a difference though. I cut a slight taper on ...

Re: Help Me Learn How to Turn...

All the above posts are excellent recommendations. 12gaugesage's suggested tactics are uncannily similar to what I would say. These are about the best turns I can muster on a similar class of equipment (10th Mountain / Epoch, NNN BC, Alaska boots), on fairly ideal soft snow on an even firm base, on...

Re: Help Me Learn How to Turn...

You have also this excellent step by step movie from Dickie Hill, "The Telemark Movie", for learning downhill turns on narrow skis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=371&v=KJ0Z8GOGnS0&feature=emb_logo Wow, that's a great resource, hadn't seen that one yet. They give some great shots of in...

Re: Help Me Learn How to Turn...

Practice, watch videos, think, repeat. I know how you feel, still learning myself. It's all about foot pressure and weight transfer/distribution. It will take time for your feet to develop the strength and feel. As far as boot/binding selection is concerned, nnnbc/bcx6 is adequate depending on condi...

Re: Warm Again this Winter is not My Favorite

Here 350 km north of the arctic circle it's currently above freezing and I can see grass from my window. We had the most snow we've had that early in the season for over a century back in October-November and we've been basically living on that since. Really warm, kind of scary. Wow, that's remarka...

Re: Skin "tuning" suggestions

For K&G- yes- trim the skin to your heel- BIG improvement in glide. Narrower- yes- improved glide. Ok, start by shortening, no further forward than heel, then I'll thin them, if needed. Re: Warm Again this Winter is not My Favorite

Been a weird winter around here too, in the teens in November, 40's in January. Seems like every snow is followed by a thaw and a rain. I keep missing the powder days, but I have had quite a few good ski days nonetheless. Even boiler plate days have there merits... empty trails. Saw a Fisher cat and...

Yeah that dude rips that slalom course, but his music kinda makes me appreciate gangster rap... He reminds me of David Hasselhoff.

Skin "tuning" suggestions

Anyone ever mess around with modifying a set of easy (kicker) skins for more efficient K&G performance? Is shortening the best way to go? What about making them thinner? Tapering? What about a thin strip of duct tape down the middle ala twin skin style? Just got a set of e99 easy skins, no scales, w...

Re: Seeking Guidance On A New Setup

Hey griz, welcome! I'm no expert skier, but I ski a lot, and have ended up with a pretty deep quiver, so I do have some perspective to offer. I have the T78 in 189 and the E88 in 199, love them both. I'm 6' 1" 230+ geared up. The longer 88 glides noticably better despite it's width, and still grips/...
