Re: First snow in Finland!

Nice one Verskis! We had our first snow of the season too today (in the americain northeast) but I didn’t get to ski it. It involved too much drive for that kind of snow! But it’s just a matter of time before we hit the slopes! B63E4B2C-3C74-4614-B049-03D94F5546AA.jpeg Whoa, where ya at? Still pret...

Re: Ski Packs...

I can't wait until Crux starts making these again: http://www.crux.us.com/product/ak37-3g Perhaps not the exact feature set your after, but I've heard nothing but rave reviews of these from folks that have used em. Actually spoke with the founder and they are hoping to iron out some production-side ...

Got it. Edited for relevance so as not to encourage off-target banter.

Re: Help A Northeastern Trail Runner & Backpacker Build His First Nordic Backcountry Set-Up!

Satch- Hopefully, we are helping you! I may well have misinterpreted your OP- assuming that you were- at this point- primarily interested in traditional "Nordic touring" (i.e. XC d) in the backcountry. If your primary interest is in developing Nordic-downhill skills and- in particular- le...

Re: Help A Northeastern Trail Runner & Backpacker Build His First Nordic Backcountry Set-Up!

Skill level; The T4s will help more than hurt while learning, they are more stable and will make it easier to control your skis and be safer IMO. Time: Places to get some turns in may be closer than you think. Any hill big enough for kids to sled on can work. I've had fun skiing in my neighbors yar...

Re: Help A Northeastern Trail Runner & Backpacker Build His First Nordic Backcountry Set-Up!

I haven't read the whole thread but I'm gonna chime in here. I think YS is hellbent to do some shreadding of his own and should consider a T4 type boot or at least an excursion. You have more control over your skis from being deflected by ruts and bumps with plastic boots because they hold your foo...

Re: New OAC XCD GT UC

I would be mounting a NNNBC binding on this ski. In the past, I would have been putting a 75mm binding on a downhill ski like this... But- watching the lightness and responsiveness of that ski- I would put the NNNBC-Magnum binding on it. Bahhhhhhh. Don't tempt me! Making me want to get the recently...
