Re: Onion River Sports closing...

Verskis- What model of OAC ski do you have? I have the OAC Kar147. I have not tried any other OAC skis yet, but one of my friends have the XCD 160 (not the new XCD GT), I need to go skiing with him sometime and test those. I have a feeling that one of those XCD models could have been a better choic...

Re: Onion River Sports closing...

c) backcountry cross country skiing on flat areas with the traditional Finnish forest skis (about 2,5m long with some wimpy bindings designed for leather winter boots or rubber boots). Do you have any experience with said Finnish forest skis?! What would it take to talk you into shipping me a pair ...

Re: Onion River Sports closing...

I am a beginner, I need support more than nuanced feel of the snow :D But I have managed to do some turns with my leathers as well, but it is much more difficult. If the terrain was more open and the snow cover always deep enough, I think I would be skiing the leathers all the time, but tight terrai...

Re: Onion River Sports closing...

I think you can not blame Hoks or other "skishoes" killing XCD. At least I did know nothing about XCD skiing before I got intrigued by the ads/articles about the Altai Hoks and OAC Kars. Then I bought the OACs and now I'm hooked on "backyard backcountry" skiing and telemark downh...

Re: NNN-BC toe bumper stiffness

Twould appear that Rottefella's intent for the stiffer more active red flexor is for Nordic skating... Yeah, the red NNN ones are obviously for skating... But for NNN-BC...? Why would anyone want a stiff flexor except for downhill purposes? Nobody is using NNNBC for downhill... Nobody is making tur...

Re: Fischer Nordic Rocker

Also- does Santa dress in the Coca-Cola uniform in the Nordic countries? Yes he does. At least in Finland the current Santa is bit of a mix of old traditional pagan Joulupukki (literal translation: Christmas Billygoat) who used to punish naughty Children and wear grey clothes, and the Christian and...

Re: Dealing with FRACKIN icy refrozen snow in the backcountry!

I will use kicker skins, either Madshus Intelligrip skins on skinny Merrel XCD GT skis or integrated skins on the OAC KAR147 "skishoes" (stupid name btw, to me they are much more ski than snowshoe). Both work fine on icy snow.

Re: Greetings! I'm all about the midwest hardwoods...

The article on your site was great! Really good introduction to rolling hills XCD skiing, which resembles what I'm doing on my local forest behind my house (although you seem to be much more skillfull :) ). I don't have that many glades, but there are places with not-so-dense trees where turns can b...
