Re: The Norpine Thread

They just like to brag about their new puffy coats. I love the ski collection, but if you don't have the right coat to wear with them then I am very, very disappointed. I don't like to think of myself as a superficial person, but I think you should go out there and display some panache . Descente-s...

Re: NNN-BC versus Pins: Just the facts

I personally much prefer NNNBC for backcountry Nordic touring. As a xcountry technology it is better than NN. If I could buy a more supportive light Telemark boot that would work with NNN-BC I would drop NN-75mm for this type of skiing… Maybe you could cobble something together if you're a do-it-yo...

Re: BCXC in the Seattle area

Their organized trips seem to be either groomed XC, or full on AT with skins (as far as I could tell). They describe some of their tours like this: "Nordic ski trips: Trips of this type occur on snow covered roads, hiking trails and ski trails that are not groomed for skiing. The routes involved do...

I'm not from the Seattle area, but there's got to be some info out there. Have you checked out this club? http://www.wstc.org/

Re: NNN-BC versus Pins: Just the facts

Would worry some in the Gonz that the nnn would not hold up as well as metal pins. Some people have strong opinions on this, depending on the conditions and how much you have to rely on your equipment to get you back to civilization. For instance, this guide isn't even considering downhill use, but...

Re: NNN-BC versus Pins: Just the facts

I'm going to keep rambling on and argue that the SNS X-ADV binding was actually slightly superior to the NNN-BC binding in term of downhill capability. Apart from the XCD/light telemark market, I suspect there's a bigger NNN-BC market for people who want maximum stability on more gentle cross-count...

Re: Ski Movies

I saw this on a facebook page called "Oldschoolers" and thought some here might find it fun. A video (filmed sometime in the 1940's?) showing a front flip into a telemark:

Re: Alico Nordic March sizing

I have some older Alico boots in a 41 (US 8) and the March boots in UK7. The soles are exactly the same length, but the March boots are wider. They may have made the boots higher volume and included 2 sets of insoles so fit would be less of a concern when the boots were issued.
