Re: August 14 1945

On that date, after 3 years of killing, and watching others die, my dad was an American G I in Oslo and engaged to a sweet Norwegian lass. He used Nazi gold from Merker's Mine that "Fell off the truck" to have the ring made. They never got married but I ski like I'm half Norwegian .

Re: 4th

Did you know that The Sons of Liberty really was a cartel of smugglers? Boston tea party was a turf war. Weird? Not when history is written by the winner.

Re: D day!

Our own D Day vet on his daily walk. I had an opportunity to speak with Bert. Not hard, he loves to talk. Said he went in with the second wave. His memory was wading in through a red human stew. He got wounded on the 3rd day and after a hospital stay and rehab was sent to Japan as an MP during the O...

Re: Singletrack and Snowmobile Trail Skills

I've used the "Between skis" technique quite a lot on narrow single tracks. Varying the pressure applied the the snow and angle of your snowplow to adjust to the slope conditions. Like any skill, it's good to practice it on gentle slopes before you need it. I've even used it to descend groomed blue'...

Re: wax vs scales vs XSkin vs klister

I'm not you and you're not me. For me, I never wax as I live in wet maritime changing snow. Icey in the shade, mushy in the sun. Positive waxless sing in hard snow, glide is slower but kick better. Negative patterns are quieter, glide better and grip less. All of my skis have positive patterns and s...

Re: Tele newbie... I was given these, have no idea what they are.

I had an earlier version of that ski and never learned to tele like Tim Caldwell. When the skis were 25 years old I used them to make a garden gate in the back yard.I still use short leashes like the ones on your skis to avoid any hassle inbounds. I've never had a tele 3 pin release.
