Re: Seeking Guidance On A New Setup

If you're looking for fixed length, I agree with Woods, the Swiss Mountain are very nice and have a good reputation for durability. What length are your BD Traverse poles? They make a 145 cm max and a 155 cm max. I have the longer ones and they stay pretty stable up to about 145 cm, still quite a bi...

Re: GPS Apps and touring speed

I've been trying out Runkeeper. Looks to be similar to Strava. You select what type of activity you are doing, and it has a real-time readout of distance and speed, as well as route tracking overlaid on Google Maps. No real-time elevation, but you can see the plot of speed and elevation vs mileage a...

That's great, hope she gets better traction! Looking forward to the upcoming review of the ST cable.

Re: Madshus Eon Length question

My wife and I each have a pair of Eons, and they are definitely softer camber than the Rossi BC60/70/90 I've handled in the store. I can't make a direct grip comparison since our Eons are waxable and I've never actually skied the Rossis. But straight up camber comparison, the Eons are much softer. F...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

2019 has been a wild and crazy year so I haven't been online much. New job, different house, IVF, then pregnant wife, and finally our first baby this fall! I wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you fine folks!! This is the best place on the internet because of the people. May you...

Re: First BC setup, seeks advice

Being hours away from a well-stocked shop does make boots more challenging. But if you can wait until you can get to a store in person, or do the multiple mail-order and return, boot fit is probably the most important piece. I haven't seen the Alpina Snowfields in person, and agree they have a tempt...

Re: First BC setup, seeks advice

<t>Welcome!<br/> <br/> I'd say you're on the right track with ski selection. I'd suggest the Excursion 88's (at 199 cm you mentioned) as giving you more support in deeper snow. Especially being a stockier guy. In the review section LilCliffy has reviews on both the 78's and 88's that contrast their ...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Beauty! Glad you've been able to get some skiing in so early in the season!

Rain last night in northeast Alberta. Killed the 3 cm of snow that we did have. Bummer.

Re: My Old Wood Skis

My God, what a gem of a song. I tarred up my first pair of woodies last season, I'll be signing this while through the bush as soon as we get some more snow up here.
