Re: -40 wax

Next things to try would be a polar glide wax and a rough structure. I'll be interested to hear your observations on this and how it works out. Your comments on rough structure doing well on very cold snow run counter to waxing advice I've received in the past, and my own observations skiing at dee...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

I kick myself in the ass for not getting the MR48 waxable when they were still available, I would’ve liked to try those out. I swung by Norsemen when I was in Calgary yesterday, and they had a few pairs of new-old-stock waxable MR48's left, as well as full stock of MR48 Skins. They weren't what I w...

Re: Back Country Boots vs Skate Ski Boots for Flat BC Skiing

Something to consider - as skate boots are designed to have a rigid sole, doing extensive classic skiing on them could cause premature wear (continuous sole flexing when the design is rigidity, cracking of sole components at flexion point). You have a few reasons for not wanting to go to a BC boot -...

Second on the shift plates.

If you want to fab some yourself, that's awesome. If you want to give some a try first or you run into snags, check these folks out:

https://bndskigear.com/adapters.html

He fabricates all kinds of adapter and shift plates.

Re: Wax question, glide & polar

I hot-polar-waxed a pair of my skis about a year ago. Then it got below -25c with new snow; all glide was gone and snow stuck to the whole base. I went home, found the nearest liquid glide wax, waxed the glide zones, and the next day glide was back, though still sticky grip zone. Glide lasted a Sun...

Re: A Little Love for Rex Universal

I'm keen to try this one; has anyone tried to stick a skin over this wax? Or does it behave like a softer wax and pulls off the ski together with the skin? It felt harder than I expected it to. Had no issue with a half skin over it. Thanks Smitty that’s good to know. It is quite hard below 20F, but...
