Winter Storm Harper

Hey all, Just thought I'd post about my skiing the last couple of days. Not exactly a trip, unless you count driving 20 minutes to the local state forest as a trip. Anyway, we here in Ithaca got about a foot of snow with the latest storm, so I was finally able to get out and properly test my homemad...

Re: Adirondack Backcountry Skiers

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. I'm located in Ithaca but have a friend with a camp in the ADKs and have skied there a couple times and hope to do more of it.

Re: Gear Basket

Just found a pair of 195cm Asnes Ingstad's mounted with 3pc bindings at my local gear exchange in Ithaca NY for $120. Unfortunately they're a bit too long for me. Don't know what year, but they have the x-skins inserts so not too old.

Re: Best Wax for Snow Dust, Frosted Leaves & Grass

We got a couple days of skiable snow before thanksgiving here in Ithaca, but none since then. Hoping to take a trip to the ADKS before Christmas, so crossing my fingers that they get dumped on.

Re: New Nordic touring boot?

I like my new fischer BCX6's (the green ones), but I got them for $40 which makes anything sound enticing. I had to add some velcro felt to the plastic cuff to get the strap to cinch tight enough, but now they seem to work great.

Re: OAC skis

My homebrew skishoes have 10cm tip rise. I've found them to be very slidey in hardpack conditions which everyone will immediately point out they aren't designed for, but sometimes you hit hardpack on your way to the soft stuff. What can I say?

OAC skis

Has anyone tried these skis? https://www.skinbased.com/skis or the new black diamond clone? (https://www.rei.com/product/138654/black-diamond-glidelite-127-skis-with-bindings-20182019) They look like hoks/koms but maybe even wider. They also have an interesting double channel in front of the skin wh...

Re: 3 pin or tts?

I'm trying to come up with a way to modify them for a walk/ski mode. Then they'd really be the ticket. What do you mean by "walk/ski mode" on a boot like the BCX675? What binding are you going to pair with them? I will be interested in how you make out with them- I personally don't trust that glued...
