Re: Bonna 2400

Thanks Andy and Ullr for your opinion on the bindings. I gave them a good second look and they actually appear to be quite a bit more robust than the wire bail bindings that left me walking some years ago. As I recall, it was a memorable walk at -30F. I found that my Alaska 75 boots will fit, proper...

Bonna 2400

I usually find a few cool pairs of older skis each season. Most aren't really that post-worthy but I think yesterday's is an exception. I came home with a pair of Bonna 2400 210cm, Medium stiff. Edges are ½ Lignostone, 1/2 segmented metal. They are new. They are probably about 40 years old and have ...

Re: Altai Kom binding advice

Hi, I have the 3-pin hardwire mounted on my Koms. Though I am in love with this binding in general- if I were to mount it again I think that I would mount a telemark binding with a free-pivot touring mode (e.g. Voile Switchback). I hadn't even considered something with free pivot. Would that work w...

Re: Buying Asnes skis...

Yes, this is true AND think of all the potential people who didn’t get an order in on time and literally missed the boat because they waited for cold temps before buying skis... Also, Neptune dropped me like a hot potato and missed out on lots of $. You are right but it’s nice to have a viable opti...

Re: Backcountry.com suing MI's Marquette Backcountry Ski

F-the-goat! One of our beloved local used gear stores was also served with notice since they had the word "backcountry" in their name. They changed names, expanded are are doing better than ever! Please everyone support your local new and used gear shops whenever you can.

Re: Altai Kom binding advice

Thanks everyone for the advice on this. Lo-Fi, I believe that watching your videos was motivation for me to look for, and find a pair of Koms. Well done and rather inspirational! I do like your setup but I'm going to stick to mounting something that I have on hand. I think that either you or someone...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Here's a few shots from around my neighborhood within an hour drive or so. We're finally getting some decent snow in southern Idaho!

I know my E99s were down there somewhere but I don't think I saw them much that day.

Re: Pomoca Race Roll

I use Pomoca Climb Pro S-glide skins on my AT setup and the glide is amazing for a 100+mm wide skin. I won't even bother with other companies skins anymore the difference is that big. These race skins are supposedly even better glide so I don't think you will be disappointed. Skimo.com sells skins ...

Re: Thinner 75mm boot soles?

I am hearing reports some of the new 2018-2019 boots, specifically the Alpina Alaska, are popping up with thinner Vibram duckbills. 15mm instead of 18mm. Can anyone here confirm? Is this also the case for other brands and models this year? I think the Alaska 75's have been at 15mm for at least a fe...
