Re: Asnes Rabb 68 Ski Review

Thanks for the link -- I inferred from your post that Asnes was recommending a Rabb 68 ski length 10 cm longer than your height -- period . But in the text on the link you provided, for wider skis like the Rabb 68, they are recommending plus or minus 5 to 10 cm from your height. And in the table bel...

Re: Asnes Rabb 68 Ski Review

What Asnes guide are you looking at? On the Rabb 68 page on the Asnes site, it recommends going with a length similar to your height.

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Quebec, Canada September 2nd and we are still skiing! I’m not sure I’ll live long enough to be able to ski 12 consecutive months again... Awesome! If you want to ski another 12 consecutive months and don't mind skiing south of the border, let me know ;^) And our approach hikes in Colorado are no lo...

Re: When skiing was beautiful, an art, an expression of self..

Great postcard -- the good news, of course, is that skiing is still beautiful, still an art, and still an expression of self, but it just doesn't often make postcards or the covers of ski magazines these days. It really is up to the individual to see the art in the sport, whether it is on kick-and-g...

Re: Karhu Catamount

Hi Sparker, Yes, IMO, they are worth $30, assuming the length is one you can use. The Catamount was a decent ski when it came out. It has dimensions of 85-70-80, and it has a waxless base. The bindings are Rottefella Chilis (not Rossi). I have a pair that used to be my main tele binding years ago, a...

Re: Really New Skis

The original Vector (w/o scales) is perhaps my favorite ski of all time for backcountry skiing in Colorado. Since 2012, I have several hundred days on them, and they were my go-to choice for tours with any 3-d snow. I say "were" because they are getting a bit beat-up, and I have only used them for e...

Re: Its June, Anyone still skiing?

Hey voilenerd, nice turns on Medicine Bow! I'm still skiing too, with several ski days in June here in Colorado (where we also still have a good snowpack up high). I skied yesterday up near Berthoud Pass west of Denver, and the snowpack is more like early than late June. Here are a couple of photos ...

Re: Alpina vs Scarpa boot size

I have the Alaska NNN-BC in 45 and the T2 in 28. I tried on the Alaska NNN-BC in 44 and they were just a bit short. The T2s fit great (and I have several pairs of Scarpas, all in 28). Note that some sizing charts suggest I should be in Mondo 29, but those are too long for me. My feet measure just un...

Re: Seeking Advice on NTN

Demo the Outlaws before buying, if you can. I skied Hammerheads and Axls for years and really liked them, so I bought the Outlaws w/o trying them first (based on all the positive reviews), but I do not like how they ski -- so much so, that I removed them and installed Hammerheads in the same holes. ...
