Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Thanks to all-y'all for these great pics. I was watching some video the other day of some young famous Norwegian XC skier and it looks like some places are still grooming for skate and K&G this late into the year... is this common? Even if we have snow many places around here just give up in late A...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

What the heck happened to Muskie's awesome pics of northern Norway? This was last Saturday. With good enough resolution you could see my house on Tromsøya in the second picture. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/ppjzk9tp9yqmhhp/98346868_247448086598781_7736415317726855168_n-2.jpg?dl=0 https://dl....

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

First, Fisheater, excellent rant, endorsed. Secondly, Wooderson. You want a pair of MR48 Skins. But you're all 'What if I lose my job?' I'm in a kind of similar predicament. Only I'm looking at a pair of 200cm Gammes. I will talk you out of it if you talk me out of it. I'll go first. Life is finite,...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

So, let's be honest, here. The difference between the two skis is 3mm in the waist and 2mm in the tail. We are not talking about dark gaping chasms of difference here. I would have a very hard time justifying the MR48-Wax when I already have a MT51-Wax in the quiver. I know. I know. I do know. And ...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

Oh man, I miss snow so much. That is such a great picture, thank you! I want to make a small correction to your post *ahem ahem* since I am proud owner... Mrs M. Ox took MR 51s I believe you mean... M T 51s Like, the best trad ski ever? Of which I have a pair of in my basement? The ones that scream...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

It's the same from front to back. But they've cunningly lopped a corner off at each end so there's 1 cm 2 of extra glide surface. Ingenious. EDIT: The plush is closer to the sole at the front and back edges. It looks like it's been shaved! Is that possible? I've never noticed this before. I've chan...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 SKIN

Fischer twin skins have elevation depending on their placement, the front and back of the skin channels are routed deeper so that the nap of the skin has less height than directly underfoot, where the nap stands proud for more grip. Does the MT48 SKIN do the same, or is the nap the same height from...

Re: warm wet snow: kicker skins vs soft kick wax

We've been using our skins a lot for the last few days. The temperatures have been wild, from -5° when we got out of the car to, I don't know, maybe 1° when the sun came out. We went up to 490 metres where there was deep fresh powder yesterday, with heavy wet snow down in the trees, and have done so...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

The chocolate is Kvikk Lunsj. It's a Norwegian institution. They print the Fjellvettreglene (the Rules of the Mountain) inside every wrapper. https://www.visitnorway.com/plan-your-trip/safety-first/mountain-safety/the-mountain-code/ It's basically a national law punishable by exile that that you hav...

Re: E99 vs. Outback 68 vs. Sporten Ranger

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Gammes here. This is supposed to be a cult forum.

They're not un-turny, immensely good fun, and can get you long distances up hills, nein?
