Re: 3 pin or tts?

Welcome to the forum trashcat. I can't speak about the tts but if you go 3 pin you could use leather boots or a t4- excursion type boot. The wider skis may need a more rigid boot in firm conditions.

Re: Voile Objective BC observations and questions

Bedford, the scales in front of your feet will probably give you grip in everything but the hardest snow even though they don't come in contact with the floor.

Re: The Åsnes Thread (News for 2018-2019!)

Thanks again for the info LC... We all know that there will never be a perfect XCD ski, it's not scientifically possible. It will always be a matter of compromise between XC and DH performance. That moderate wax pocket , as small as it is, is a bit problematic for me on hard pack. Well ok, no, it's...

Nice trip. You know you're on an action adventure when you're trip requires more than one helmet.

Re: Rottefella Super Tele WITH STRAP

I thought those slots were there to be able to use the binding in the event that the bail broke, but I can see that it could enhance performance too. I've never seen anything about using them improving performance though. I think it is a less active binding than the Voile Mountaineer, so it could us...

Re: The Rockpile last week- pics

Good technique does not necessarily equal good backcountry skills. I would rather ski with someone in the backcountry who can only snowplows down a slope if they have good route finding and decision making skills (e.g., ability to assess snow stability, capable of reading topography and navigating,...

Re: Voile comparison-contrast

Even if the 3pc is more active than the HW I think the HW skis better. Probably due to having greater leverage to get the (rear) ski on edge.

Re: Mounting 3-pin bindings to Voile Objective skis

I wouldn't change the mount position from what Voile recommends just because you plan to xc with them. I would only mount back of what they recommend based on your own experience and preference. If you don't have that experience why try to reinvent the wheel, like woods said.
