Re: Dynamic MountainLight: anybody remember these? How do they ski?

I ski Atomic tour cap lights, an AT ski from the early 90's with similar dimensions with leather boots and they are one of my all time favorite skis. I would think that a light ski of that size with a wood core will be pretty good.

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Thanks Woods, I had to post a photo to see if I still knew how. For being such heavy boats they sure do paddle nice. I have 2 16 footers and recently got an 18 footer and was surprised by how much easier the bigger boat moved through the water. Do you still have the sailing rigging for your boat? I ...

Re: Help Me Choose: Burly Leather Boots vs. Soft Plastic Boots

I'e skied leather Merril Ultras for many years. It's a burley boot without any straps or bukles. I got T4s last season and my impression was that they toured as well as the merrils, maybe even better with the lower cuff and better range of motion. They were probably stiffer in the sole which didn't ...

Re: thanks for all the fish

t-$ you mentioned that your for aft spread between your skis is toe of rear foot to heel of for foot and I think that is all you need and really good. You also mentioned that you ski with a closed turn. To me this means skis close together. If this is correct I think you need to open up your turn by...

Re: riser plates in the backcountry?

If you ever find yourself on a hard windblown slope I think you will have an easier time getting your skis on edgeb than with a cable.

Re: Pinnah Dave Link

I don't know about the base binder as a glide wax either but I knew a girl who skied in Fairbanks and when it got real cold they skied on pine tar without glide wax. So you never know. I also put polar on the entire base of my ptex skis and don't have a problem keeping kick wax on until the snow get...

Re: Pinnah Dave Link

I wonder what it would be like to apply a layer of Swix Polar on top of your entire layer of binder- and then the appropriate kick wax in the kick zone? I would definitely put polar on the tips and tails, but my hunch is that the kick wax may stick better to the base binder than to the polar wax, o...

[quote= We have had so little snow for 5 years in a row now ( I still hope it is just bad luck and not the new normal) that the wide Kar seems a bit overkill most of the time, and it is quite bad tracking ski on hardpack. That is why I think I might have preferred the XCD.[/quote] I can't speak for ...
