That looked like a fantastic trip rando, and great pictures. It's nice to go back to places where your friends with the locals.

Beer Your jokes are falling flat today. ;) I woulda went with "jock itch" The things that have sent me home early are wind, bad conditions, and poor visibility, especially when you have all three at the same time. The last few seasons it's been foot pain, but I think that's behind me now. I got a b...

Re: Ski Recommendations for Multi-Day Winter Camping Trips in Ontario

Portage trails are not ski trails and may be too narrow to maneuver on skis. Unless you're familiar with the portages and know what to expect you may be better off switching to snowshoes for the ports. Portages are typically a small fraction of your total mileage so you may want to pick your gear fo...

Re: Technique feedback thread - post a video.

Funny thing is in all the years I've been using that form I only used it on slopes where I didn't need to slow down. They were smooth carved turns without much flexing of the skis. After watching his vids and reading some of the commentary I've been using it in a variety of ways and situations.

Re: Style

What I got out of his videos is to keep your skis weighted throughout the turn and skiing with both skis equally. Agreed that this is actually the only thing that really matters. How to get this done is subtilely different depending on conditions, speed, ski flex, boot stiffness, binding activity, ...

Re: Technique feedback thread - post a video.

I got some points while skiing this day from a highly skilled Tele skier. Overall much better than the last time, a few years ago, that I skied with him. The Rossi Alpineers skied much better than the last time with SB98’s. https://youtu.be/ouk-tPsNx8Q?si=W6iIrKOaKB1gR8OB Nice "B" tele. Did you tea...

Re: Style

To know what poor conditions are it helps to know what good conditions are. In good conditions the snow is smooth and consistent, there is nothing to deflect your skis or prevent them from turning. You can ski with reckless abandon without fear of crashing, and if you do crash, it's your own fault. ...
