Re: I've started training for next season....

gonna skip those calf raises. my calves got huge from years of road and mtn bike racing. I almost couldn't get the top buckle on my Crispis buckled, the scarpas are better for big calves...

Re: Necessity of wax-iron

way back when I raced, we waxed kick-wax if we needed to layer 2 or more kick-waxes. the first layer got the iron. we never bought "waxing irons", we used household irons. we also always ironed the glide wax zones

Anyone going to the Worldcup Sprint races in Minnesota in March

I think the races are march 14 - 17. I was toying with the idea of going for weekend. I know nothing about the area, but kind of assume that the Worldcup traveling circus bought up all the hotel rooms a long time ago. does anyone have any local knowledge of the situation?

I've started training for next season....

well I got in my 5 days of Tele skiing this year and they were all epic. I learned a few things: 1. my daily max is 5-6hrs of lift served skiing, about 18-20k vert per day 2. I am able to ski well for 4hrs per day by skiing parallel turns about 50% of the time 3. the last 2-3 runs of the day / last ...

Re: first NTN thoughts- 22 Designs Lynx

I don't know if the Lynx has the same underfoot design as the Outlaw, but I recently skied the Outlaw and had no snow buildup...unlike my Freerides that have horrible buildup

Re: Emerging from the lurk

please tell me the vid of the cat pulling a skier is a deep fake...or my lifelong perception of cats will be in tatters. now all I can think of is a team of sled-cats in the Iditarod...maybe 30-40 of them all harnessed up...like herding cats, but different.

Re: Ski Movies

btw, those old ski movies from 76 and 80 bring back so many memories. as a little kid growing up in VT and XC racing from around 1975 - 1988, XC racing = Lifestyle. from the "5 and under lollypop" races to trying to make the USSA regionals and nationals. the early days where skis were sill wooden an...

Re: Ski Movies

there was a short ski movie made in the late 70's called "I hope I get a purple ribbon". it was filmed at Blueberry Hill in Goshen VT. I was there and in the movie. the highlight was Bill Koch coming for 1 day. I was 7yo and being in that little film with BK was at the time a bucket list item before...

Re: Ski Movies

I grew up skiing in the Bill Koch ski league in VT, starting in the "5 and under" races. I have an old scrap book full of ribbons that say "Bill Koch ski league". he was definitely our hero back then. as I recall, he practically invented the skate technique. back then in the transitional years, we s...
