Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

Gamme stated that the boot is more important than the binding for DH control and I still believe it is true, especially sole stiffness. What about an Alpina Alaska with a kind of articulated/removable collar for additional stiffness on steep DH? I think that is true but only to a certain extent (ev...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

Sounds to me that this new binding is not fully developped and does not offer more than the other existing systems so far. For XCd one miss the possibility to use tracks. For xcD you do not get any more stability than a 75mm with cable. On both BC and 75 you can change the flex of the system by eith...

Rottefella BC Flex 60SH

Hi everyone, I was looking for a thread about this little gummy part of the BC binding called flex but I could not find anything on this forum. Rottefella has two different flex for the BC binding, the usual black ones (40SH) that are soft/middel flexing and the red ones (called 60SH) that are hard-...

Re: Boot Review: 2018 Crispi Svartisen BC

Nice to read the review of the BC version. I owned the 75 version but sold it because the sole was too soft and I could not properly control the S-Bound 98 without the cables. I switched to BC and Stetind boot and do not regret it, very nice balance of XC and DH performances. I use these boot on Gam...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

Wow. Alpina told me the Alaska is 2.6-2.8mm leather. And I always assumed that the Stetind would have thicker leather than the Alaska for some reason... I don't have much experience with the Stetind but so far I find it a well-balanced boot, overall more stable than my previous Svartisen 75, despit...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

I ordered the boot for my girlfriend and just received it yesterday. Out of the box it looks like a very promising boot. It uses a 3.0 mm full grain leather (my Stetind have a 2.4-2.6) and a kevlar reinforced toe-box. The sole flex is stiffer than both the Stetind and the Alaska (out of the box, let...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

yes, NNNBC soles are all the same - I find this makes it difficult to get the boots to fit my extra-wide toebox, welted leather 75mm boots are easier to stretch. I can verify that the Alpina 1600 definitely changed around 5 years ago - and it was an upgrade. The leather on the first version seemed ...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

Thank you for your well explained answer. It seems like a very nice boot giving the price (I can get a pair for 140 euros). I was today in a shop and there is quite a difference between the different shoes in term of flex. So far the Crispi Stetind and the Alaska are the two most powerful boots I ha...

Re: Alpina BC 1600 Boot

Thank for these informations! It seems a bit contradictory with the abovementioned test. Could it be that they changed the boot? The old version looked a lot cheaper than the new one and they might have redesigned the whole shoe like Alfa with their Guard versions.
