Re: The Rotti NNN-BC Binding Conversation
I don't have anything useful to add to this, but I really enjoyed reading the detailed comparison. Thanks for taking the time to write it!

Re: Old voile springs, sole separation leathers, edge rust
Hi, speaking only as a lover of leather boots (hiking, work type) I would say an extra secure way of reattaching your heel would be to have a cobbler use "clinch" nails. These are soft nails driven up through the heel into the boot. Due to their soft nature when they hit the wooden last used to hold...

Re: Question on Transnordic 66
Hi, I believe the crown designation means that ski has a fish-scale wax less base. There is a non-crown version that uses kick-wax.
The "easy skin" is an accessory short skin, that you can add for extra grip in "klister" type conditions or for more grip on step and continuous climbs.
Happy skiing

Very good insights guys. Thank you. Easier to turn would certainly be a good thing! I will also check out that Facebook group.

Re: E-109 vs E-99
Having said that, when there's a modest amount of fresh snow on the ground, say 2-8", the E-109 will give a bunch more float than the E-99, and it should be easier to turn as well. A boot like the BCX-10 should be plenty for skis around 80mm at the tip and 60mm underfoot, whether it's the Fischer E...

E-109 vs E-99
Hi folks, with your help I purchased a pair of E-99 Xtralight skis in Feb of 2021. I've really enjoyed these skis and felt a big upgrade from my skinny entry level "touring" skis of old. I paired them with some Rossignol BCX10 boots. I have rather big feet and these were all that I could find that f...

Re: Pros/Cons: Rossignol BCX 11
For what it's worth I have nnn-bc X-10's and I wouldn't call them a very stiff boot. A step up from pure lace up nnn boots, but not very rigid.

Re: Mountaineering in Alaska’s
I used to do a lot of ice climbing, so I know a bit about crampons. A couple of things that come to mind. First, how solid do you feel the rear connection is. On mountaineering boots that ledge that the rear bail locks into seems a bit more pronounced. You just don't want it to "pop" off unexpectedl...

I finally understand! (St-Donat Qc.)
I went out today for my second outing of the season. Using the E-99's I bought last year. I didn't get the wax right today, so there was a lot of plodding, but boy could I walk up those hills! Along my planned path I saw a logging road that had not beet touched this winter. Decided to venture up. It...
