Re: I saw a guy in Dynafit...

Skiing doesnt have to be serious, just do what's fun! Gear shaming folks, not fun. Skiing is only serious all the time. Don't you know that?!? (I work with lemon at an XC Center) In all seriousness I think we see more AT gear on classic xc ski tours due to the presence of actual gear reps from thos...

Re: Johnny, Pierre, and the beast. Or the new Telemark Tech Norm (TTN) vs the future of XCD (NTN-BC)

I will agree with much of this but I’ll also throw in my 2 cents. The NTN system is amazing when control and hard driving is needed. The resistance when lifting the heel allows for a much more aggressive stance with lateral control over the skis edge. But… what good is that resistance if your boot c...

Re: ADK Jackrabbit Trail

Hey Nat, I spent a lot of time on that bench myself; built the rental rack that's probably still hanging there. Still renting dorm rooms in the basement? Kenny still have the Jackrabbit Inn? Not sure about the jackrabbit inn to be honest. Much less running into people with the lodge closed and all....

Re: Fischer inventorry replenishment

What are your plans post season? Once Cascade looses its snow I'll be making tele turns at Whiteface on some 205 Tua Cirques I just tuned up. A fair amount of older tele skiers come out for the last spring week and hang by midstation. Other than that I am a boatbuilder so I will be reconstructing m...

Re: ADK Jackrabbit Trail

I work at Cascade Ski Center in the ADK (along the Jackrabbit Trial) and have also done the entire trail (42 miles), once last year in a single day. Section from Paul Smiths to Saranac Lake: Mostly flat with long shared sections of snowmobile trail. You will want a stiff double cambered ski (Fischer...

Re: Fischer inventorry replenishment

I work at Cascade Ski Center in the Adirondacks (mom and pop BC XC center for 43 years) and we received notice that our Fischer orders (some from way back in fall 2020) wouldn't be coming in until about mid April. Looks like Fischer gave skis to REI and other large retailers first, great way to trea...

Re: 2021 Madshus M55 and Latest Glittertind Comparison

Beware the skin removable technique as mentioned above-- don't break them apart! What traverses/thru-skis are you thinking in particular? I always wondered why I don't hear much about looping back to The Loj via Indian Pass when doing the Marcy Dam-Avalanche-Flowed Lands ski-- granted I've never hi...

Re: 2021 Madshus M55 and Latest Glittertind Comparison

Please keep posting through this winter, I'd love ADK snow reports and see some ski touring. Not a lot of folks here with ADK experience-- @phoenix lived and worked inside the Blue Line (I think working at Cascade XC) and I lived in Morrisonville just outside on the Line by Plattsburgh and I miss t...

Re: 2021 Madshus M55 and Latest Glittertind Comparison

Time for an post ski update! I've skied these every day for a week (then it rained in the ADK's, figures). I am happy to report that the M55 does seem to release the tails and slash turns easier than the old Gilt. Keep in mind I am comparing these skis in a 205cm each which is a higher labeled weigh...

2021 Madshus M55 and Latest Glittertind Comparison

I threw together a quick comparison video between the new M55 Panorama and the last version of the Glittertind. These skis are remarkably similar with the only differences being their camber, some flex, sizing, and new transition skin ability. After breaking the tip off one of my Glittertinds last w...
