Re: NNN BC automatic

I found the auto bindings work fine if occasionally lubricated. Bicycle lubricant or silicone spray will work.

I haven't had any trouble except the first two years I owned them (2012-2013).

Re: OMG! Another "help me pick my ski" thread

If you are going to ski 75% in tracks, I would prefer a ski with a 60-65 mm tip and no steel edges or partial steel edges. Full steel edges tend to make the ski too stiff to go around curves in tracks. This is my experience with the Alpina Discovery 68, which has full steel edges. When I owned Madsh...

Re: Binding Screw Glue

Polyurethane will react with the wood and any moisture present, but doesn't bond well with the metal, It will act as more of a filler and you will have better luck removing the screws later. When polyurethane contacts any moisture, it will foam and fill the space between the metal and wood. Epoxy is...

Re: It Ain't Ice Unless You Can See Fish

The skies are not very sunny most days here at 1000 ft. elevation. December is fog season. Even the mountains have been overcast.

I've been skiing in the West Yellowstone area as well(last time in 2013, when I still lived in Louisiana). It's the place to go when they get warm spells in Montana.

Re: Older Alpina Discovery Ski size chart

The disadvantage here of the skis being too long is getting grip on the uphill. The strength of these skis is the ability to climb (due to the excellent waxless pattern), and your wife might lose that advamtage. These skis are quite stiff and difficult to compress for a backcountry ski. While the Di...

Re: Rossi BC skis- why all the negativity?

It's not surprising that its difficult to change reputation once it is "earned." I'm surprised that Fischer and Madshus have such good reputations here. While their current models may be great, I don't think that either of them were very good at making waxless skis in the past. My close friend, who ...

Re: has anyone figured out a permanent fix for holes worn in boot bellows?

I haven't actually performed the repair, but I am a retired chemical engineer with some experience with urethanes. Urethane adhesives are generally capable of chemical reaction with residual groups on the surface of solid urethanes or Nylon, which should make them adhere better at least. Keep in min...

Re: Excursion 88 Sizing and Bindings.

Welcome Will Wall! You definitely don't need 75mm bindings for the skiing context you describe. NNNBC boots will offer more than enough support and there are a wide range of boots and lasts to choose from. That being said if you have found the perfect 3-pin boot then I would certainly go 75mm. 3pin...

Re: Solid yet economical NNN-BC boot, Rossignol BC X10

I had Rossi X-5 NNN combi boots used for roller skiing for about 7 years. I think the sole eventually cracked. I currently have Rossi boots both NNN and NNN-BC (BC X-6). I think the boot construction is much better than the Alpina boots I have had and certainly the fit is better for me. I haven't tr...
