Harris, Sounds like a totally horrible knee injury - surprised you have not given up! Just for the record: What was you stance when it happened? I have a theory that it more difficult to heart your knees in a lowish tele stance. I ski ScottyBobs - very powerful on the inside ski - I have experienced...

Colin - I use Tele turns when my legs get stiff from Alpine turns!

Re: Quiver Killers or 2nd Ski Kit?

On a narrow / light ski (ie Skimo ski) you are removing a substantial amount of width from the structure. 13mm of 65mm = 20%. Not sure if this is significant though.

Re: Neveplast - ever skied on it?

Lots of dry-slope in UK. Basically horrid stuff, but perhaps useful for pre-season warm up. It is not very forgiving, edges releases are rather too quick to feel. Also watch out for your thumbs getting caught if you fall, I have builders gloves with the thumbs taped up!

Re: Tele vs parallel.

Tele turns always give the biggest grin! That said I would agree that on firm / hard snow at lower angles a P turn is better. It is very easy to catch an edge, not just my lack of skill - I even witnessed my instructor coming a cropper! To me a T turn is a powerful turn, easier to weight both skis (...

Re: How was your season?

7 day outing in Scotland, varying from terrible conditions (hardly any snow, rain / sleet) to lovely sunny days skiing from base. Included my first SKIMO, which was the worst day, but still loved it!! 3 days hut- tour is Norway. Should have been more, definitely going back, the DNT hut system is exc...

Re: Just throwing this out there...

A more all round Tele race would be great with skinning and classic added in. It would have to be a careful balance, of climbing, flat and downhill. It would do great things for the development of lightweight tele bindings and (hopefully) boots. If so would feed back into the touring community.

Re: 3-pin Racing

Did my first Skimo this year, in Scotland. I used 3 pin with cables, leave the cable tightly fitted but loose up hill is getting close to dynafiddle efficiency. Generally my transitions were crap, gear not well sorted. That said, I am now in the top 20 British Skimo racers, and the top Tele vet! I c...

Re: Taking the "elf toe" out of old plastic tele boots?

Store boots with toes and heels tied together, so far not much help, though will tie up over summer.
Accept the bend, so shave the top of the duckbill, and put a wedge below. This really helps as the duckbill is wedged vertically, so is very firm in the binding.

Re: BOOT BODGERY

hacked Squadras had there first outings this weekend. Overall excellent & a big improvement (boo-hoo: not new boots for me!) About 1200m climbing over two days, almost comfortable. Mainly need better socks. A bit loose over the foot, the webbing needs tightening, which I expected. (They are a bi...
