Re: TELEMO SKI & BINDING

The Telemo skis have finally tasted real snow - just a quick pootle around / besides the pistes at Glencoe ‘Resort’ Scotland.  They have yet to open, though the pistes prepared and ready to go for the weekend, the sidecountry was a bit thin. On the climb they are amazing - as would be expected with ...

Re: TELEMO SKI & BINDING

Great market for 'Telemo' bindings? don't think it will be part of my retirement plan! The ski is well reinforced under the toe, so hopefully no pull out. My theory is that it would break the carbon leaf before damaging the ski, there should be less stress than a standard cable bottoming out. The ba...

TELEMO SKI & BINDING

At last the autumn project is finished! Inspiration (there is nothing new) and photos. The leaf binding comes in at 377g, the ski started at 734g with reinforcements 777g. Ski, binding and boot is 2180g The idea is that steel is heavy, and a spring designed to hold a duckbill into a cable binding is...

Harris, Sounds like a totally horrible knee injury - surprised you have not given up! Just for the record: What was you stance when it happened? I have a theory that it more difficult to heart your knees in a lowish tele stance. I ski ScottyBobs - very powerful on the inside ski - I have experienced...

Colin - I use Tele turns when my legs get stiff from Alpine turns!

Re: Quiver Killers or 2nd Ski Kit?

On a narrow / light ski (ie Skimo ski) you are removing a substantial amount of width from the structure. 13mm of 65mm = 20%. Not sure if this is significant though.

Re: Neveplast - ever skied on it?

Lots of dry-slope in UK. Basically horrid stuff, but perhaps useful for pre-season warm up. It is not very forgiving, edges releases are rather too quick to feel. Also watch out for your thumbs getting caught if you fall, I have builders gloves with the thumbs taped up!

Re: Tele vs parallel.

Tele turns always give the biggest grin! That said I would agree that on firm / hard snow at lower angles a P turn is better. It is very easy to catch an edge, not just my lack of skill - I even witnessed my instructor coming a cropper! To me a T turn is a powerful turn, easier to weight both skis (...

Re: How was your season?

7 day outing in Scotland, varying from terrible conditions (hardly any snow, rain / sleet) to lovely sunny days skiing from base. Included my first SKIMO, which was the worst day, but still loved it!! 3 days hut- tour is Norway. Should have been more, definitely going back, the DNT hut system is exc...

Re: Just throwing this out there...

A more all round Tele race would be great with skinning and classic added in. It would have to be a careful balance, of climbing, flat and downhill. It would do great things for the development of lightweight tele bindings and (hopefully) boots. If so would feed back into the touring community.
