Re: New boots and a foot of fluff.

GLB,
If you ski "knee to ski" in your leathers, try skiing a taller stance with your plastic boots.

Re: New Moderator

.... I am also in the PNW, but the only thing we have in common with the Cascades is we get most of the same storms. They dump less, but much drier snow, in the Blue Mountains and Elkhorns, where I ski. Looking to get back to the Elkhorns one of these days. Used to ski Anthony Lakes in younger year...

Re: New Moderator

Just thought I would weigh in my 2cents: Me? 60 years of skiing. From early self-propelled days in Mike's neighborhood to the PNW and the magic of the ropetow and beyond. Blew my knees out skiing GS style evading the ski patrol. Now on SB's w/ 3pins and swap between leathers and T3's. If my knees wo...

Re: End of an era?

Wow, a moderator telling other users to go FUCK THEMSELVES... Wow. I'm very sad to see this is actually happening... Not exactly my vision of internet camaraderie ... Please excuse this sad episode. Mike's words don't reflect Telemark Talk's spirit of friendly good-fellowship at all... Sorry about ...

Re: Thoughts on S-bound setup?

Thanks! How do you like the 98's in powder. I am wondering if the conditions yesterday were just too deep and not steep enough for these. I was getting into some snow about 18 inches deep and sinking. Or maybe I am just so used to skiing 110's underfoot. When in deep powder, you need some steep ter...

Re: Thoughts on S-bound setup?

I'm rushed for time and on my phone but my take: 112s, 75mm 3pin binding w removable cable option (Voile). That way you can 3pin on a softer boot for flat touring/gentle hills and when you inevitably start craving better touring with bigger descents you can use a Scott Excursion/Scarpa T4 with the ...

Re: Ideal living locations

Bend, Oregon: You should have been there 50 years ago. Everybody (skiers, bikers, rafters, hunters, fishermen, uber-athletes, contractors, realestaters) wants to live there. Trouble is having a fat wallet and a tolerance for hoards of people wanting the same thing you want. Yes, beautiful country an...

Re: Breaking in new leather boots

Heel lift is not the end of the world. It's only an issue when it causes blistering. I get a little heel lift in some of my boots, but it's never caused an issue. If it does, try putting a pad right underneath the heel to bring your instep up a little higher. Good luck! I Does anyone use liner sock...
