Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Fischer Traverse 78

Very nice review. Thanks a lot. I am looking to introduce my girlfriend to backcountry skiing and I want a stable and slow ski for her. I was considering to buy the Excursion 88. Do you think that will be a good ski, for beginners? Also, based on the fact that it is a wide ski, does it need to be t...

Mike Horn and Borge Ousland aiming for the North Pole

This is nothing to do with telemark but you might be interested in knowing Mike Horn and Borge Ousland are currently attempting a long and arduous crossing of the North Pole. Yeah, Borge Outland, the man who's face is on the new Asnes light BC ski. I'm assuming they are giving them a serious testing...

Well well well! Knowing that might have impacted the ski recommendations we gave you in the first place!

Re: Asnes quiver of two

BGregoire would know with his Amundsens, maybe. YO BEN!? Yo Woods! How ya doing? Looking forward to another great season I hear? Totally right about your BC ski options for tracks. However, I assumed Dany here still prefer a ski that performs better in the BC and AT skinning trails (and on hut to h...

Re: Asnes quiver of two

For an all Asnes quiver of two, your case 1 examples are good options. Keep in mind some of those skis like the Gamme are perfect for hut to hut tours in the Gaspesie park. I have a pair of Asnes Amundsen 200cm that I could trade for your Nansen's, what length are they? For your case 2, I would disr...

Re: Alico Ski March Boot

More thoughts for Nitram, in the hopes he can be a hero and abstain from compulsive shopping! ;) Although I cannot stand cables (3-pin traverse) with a softish leather boot, several friends with very big feet swear by 'em. This surely has to do with the mechanics of the system. I think the 3-pin tra...

Re: Alico Ski March Boot

It seems that I am the only one on this forum without a pair of those boots... Before I do buy them I just want to be sure that they are way stiffer than Alaskas. I kind of think that the Alaskas will be too soft for my new Raab that I will use for tour and turn. But I don't want to commit for eith...

Re: Alico Ski March Boot

Man Martin, You really got hit with a bad case of upgraditis. Usually, when you get your significant one involved, you are in deep deep trouble. If you want a stiff sole, you cannot go wrong with the Alico Ski March (make sure you get the proper UK size). There are several advantages to the T4/Excur...

Re: Recommendation for XCd ski for central Alberta foothills

Lilcliff is right, in cold dry snow, its nice to have a ski that floats well. But don't waste too much time looking for 250cm skis in North America. You will not find them. Besides, I have spent some time skiing and living in both Sweden and Norway, and I have only seen LONG skis on snow ONCE. A rea...

Re: Recommendation for XCd ski for central Alberta foothills

195 will be easier to turn and skoot around trees. 200 will be faster on the flats. At 160lbs plus small pack, personally I would not go for a ski longer thanks 200, maybe 205 in a pinch, but I have a lot of trees to dodge here in eastern Quebec.
