Re: The Åsnes Thread (News for 2018-2019!)

@Crister, Could you please confirm if the scales on the photo of that pair of Vettenuten skis Johnny poster were carved at the Asnes factory (original?). I have seen and tried the older fishscale pattern on the Amundsen skis and they were both different to that AND the newer, cooler Asnes fishscale ...

Re: The Åsnes Thread (News for 2018-2019!)

Nah that actually looks much worse than the pattern on those early Amundsen waxless skis I mentioned a long time ago. I bet that pair you referenced has homemade diy scales. As you know, beauty is i the eye of the beholder. And besides, to me, nothing looks and feels better than a properly kicked wa...

By the way, this is not mount Washington. This is a remote area called la grand cuve, a few kilometers from mont Albert in Gaspésie (Quebec, Canada)
Remote? Hey, that is nearly in my back yard! Snow conditions look like they were fabulous. Let me know next time you're out east!

Re: Altai Skis Still Available?

FWIW, there are a few Sépaq parks in Québec that have trails designated for "Hok skiing"(!!). Is that a thing? Rongon, Some Sépaq parks have indeed embraced the Hok and have them for rent. My take on this is that the clientele they are aiming for with this is the average neophyte who wants to try s...

Re: Karhu Catamount

Yeah, get them, especially if they have any decent length to them (185cm+). Those Rottefella Chili bindings are great basic telemark bindings, but I see the Catamount more as a bushwack/basic XCD ski. I'd recommend swapping the bindings for a basic 3pin or 3in cable just to make the kit lighter (and...

Re: Traverse 78 Binding Recommendation

Hi Sparker, If you are inclined towards the 3-pin, go for it! For those skis, go with either the Rottefella Super Telemark or the Voile mountaineer or 3-pin cable. You probably will not use the cable much with those skis. If you cannot find a sweet deal on a comfy norwegian welt, go for the Alpina A...

If I were going to Tahoe to bc ski I'd be taking Voile Vectors ans T4s even if I didn't plan on skiing anything steep.(over about 25 degrees)
True that, if I was in Tahoe (which I have had the opportunity to ski), I sure would be having a blast telemarking with a pair of Vectors and T4s!!!!
