FTP Gloves and Mittens

No, it doesn't mean File Transfer Protocol . And it doesn't mean Fuck The Police either. It stands for Free The Powder, a small company selling premium, plush and ultra warm ski gloves and mittens made from the best leather . There was some very cold days here this winter. And thank God I had FTP ge...

Nah, you can't clip them on... You have to remove the heel piece first... ;)

Re: strange behavior of new skis

Canting could be a solution, but not the source of the problem since it's working with other skis... There must be something wrong with your springs... Check them out, one must be adjusted very high and the other one at a very low setting... If everything's ok, then it's just a matter of getting use...

Re: "upgrade" to pins?

Same thing here... I had 3 pairs of Spikes / Bulldogz, both the blue and the black ones ... They didn't fit my Alaskas at all, even with tons of shim and mods... Even met Louis in person here down in VT, where he installed another special plate on the binding... Which sort of fixed the problem if I ...

Re: Nordic ICE Skaters... Les Quebecois? Je vous appelle

They are Zandstras skates... Imported from Holland... Strange, I just checked their 2017 catalog and they don't seem to make the wooden ones anymore... http://www.zandstrasport.nl https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/-u4AAOSwcUBYNzZB/s-l1600.jpg Lars, it was a rainy weekend in Lake Placid 30 years ago tha...

Re: Nordic ICE Skaters... Les Quebecois? Je vous appelle

^^^^ Yep, I know... But stiff flexors to prevent lift is relevant with 200cm skating skis... Not that much relevant with 30cm blades... Well, depending on boot/binding combination of course... Soft NNN boots would make good use of a stiff flexor... I personally like the sound of the blade dragging o...

Re: Nordic ICE Skaters... Les Quebecois? Je vous appelle

What are wood skates? Skates made of wood... ;) I paid mine like 40$ or something: http://www.telemarktalk.com/download/file.php?id=1688 It can be done with high end plastic skates too... It's just that they are usually a lot more expensive... (The blade and skate construction is much better than c...

Re: Nordic ICE Skaters... Les Quebecois? Je vous appelle

We need some real Quebecois to answer my silly questions! Hey, I'm very, very good at silly stuff...!! The T20's would be too floppy... It's nice to have some lateral support... We're not talking about fluffy powder here... But AiiiiCE! Pressure is almost always on the whole skate so don't bo...

Re: Leather boots and liners

I have weird feet... Both my Alaska 75 and BC are super comfy, but heel lift is a bit problematic... So two years ago, I bought a pair of low top thermo moldable liners in my size, euro 43. And since then, I have been shopping (without any luck) for Alaskas size 47 to put the liners inside and have ...
