Re: hemiboreal forest skiing in New Brunswick Canada

The Nordic touring conditions are excellent here in the hills! Warmed up to just above freezing yesterday afternoon- the snow warmed up enough to begin to consolidate with the frozen hardpack base. It was perfect conditions for my E109 Crowns- had a wonderful hilly tour with my two teenagers- I love...

Re: hemiboreal forest skiing in New Brunswick Canada

Oh you got the OAC’s huh? Have been wondering about those a lot lately. I bought the OAC XCD (not the wider XCD GT from that awesome telemark video) on clearance with a XMas gift card. Not sure what to think yet... Perhaps it’s all the stupid (awesome) videos of shredders they post on their Instagr...

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails

So far all our gear is used and old as we just wanted to learn the basics and have fun. But for the next season, we are thinking of investing in more appropriate gear for the steep terrain. Basically, 1. A pair of short XC skis for compact/ firm snow; paired with leathers What is the terrain like w...

Re: SWAP?

Anemic- Don't know if you have moved your waxable Eon yet... Just some friendly advice- consider keeping it. Perhaps the Eon Wax is not the ideal ski for your everyday touring- in your region (it is in mine)- BUT, a mid-width XCD ski with high quality sintered waxable base is becoming VERY hard to c...

Re: SWAP?

Oh- didn't mean to be so unclear- I wasn't' suggesting that the MGV Glitt was "poor"- at least compared to other double-cambered scaled skis. I simply meant that I prefer the waxable Glitt to the waxless. I weigh 185lbs. I thoroughly tested the both the waxable and the waxless Glitt before...

Re: SWAP?

Let us know how you like the Glitt MGV Anemic. Personally, I like the waxable version- I find the waxless Glitt VERY lacking in the grip department.

Re: hemiboreal forest skiing in New Brunswick Canada

In the grand scheme of things we have had decent conditions here in the hills this week. After that ridiculous rain storm we had an immediate freeze- it was 14C here on Friday afternoon, and -24C on Sunday morning! It has snowed a few centimeters every day. And it has warmed up enough during the day...

Re: Satchel’s Neophyte Nordic Backcountry Adventure Thread

My 4.5 year old has an extremely rare incurable genetic disorder that causes blindness and eventual renal failure. As if that weren’t enough, at age 2 he was diagnosed with ASD and is currently non-verbal and extremely sensory sensitive. Both these things are amplified by his visual impairment. Bec...

HA! Working from home today- just leaned over and checked my Alaskas- more wear on exactly the same side! 8-)

Re: Do I need a rebar?

Looking at that photo- appear that there is more wear on one side than the other?
