Re: It exists! Fischer Excursion 88 in a 199cm!!!

I might just have to have a pair of each of them in 199cm...especially seeing that they have the Easy-Skin inserts...

Anybody sees them for sale online- please let us know! (Especially from a Canadian site!)

Re: Boot Review: 2018 Crispi Svartisen BC

There is very little ankle support, however it is the stiff sole that allows substantial turning power with this boot. Yes- agree- that is one of my concerns with the Svartisen- that it will be too soft after it is broken in. My new Alaska has much more ankle support. I suppose that is true- hadn't...

Re: Paging Phoenix with an Objective question

Hmmm... The Rainier and Objective couldn't be more different backcountry skis on corn snow. The Rainier being a double-cambered BC-XC ski- the Objective being a single-cambered BC-downhill ski. Light, single-cambered skis actually offer decent XC performance in bottomless, powder snow. Double-camber...

Re: Mystery of the Single Camber Wax Pocket Explained

Very interesting stuff Bob. Asnes is doing some very innovative stuff with their BC Nordic touring skis. In addition to this- across the board- the Asnes Fjellskis have much lower profile initial cambers than their similar equivalents from other manufacturers (e.g. E99 vs Gamme 54; Ingtad vs E109/78...

Re: LilCliffy's Nordic Backcountry Touring Waxing

Last Sunday, went out on an epic 20+km very demanding tour- with loads of vertical- in the McLean Brook watershed (a tributary of the Upper Nashwaak River Watershed). Conditions: - very deep fresh, but settled snow (40cm of soft snow on top of 1+metres of frozen consolidated base). - -25C in the mor...

Re: Asnes New X-Skin System Review (Nylon, Mohair and Race)

I have Skin-Locks/X-Skins in 35mm, 45mm, and 60mm- all mohair. I have been using all three of these skins on both the 62mm Ingstad/Combat Nato and the 68mm Storetind. When the snow and temperature is not easy to grip wax for, I am becoming very pleased that I have this choice. There is VERY signific...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC

At this point, my perspective is that the current Ingstad BC is a specialty ski: XC skiing in very deep snow and steep terrain. This ski has so much tip rocker that its XC glide surface is VERY short unless you are skiing in very deep soft snow. On dense, consolidated snow- or even as much as 6 inch...

Re: Boot Review: 2018 Crispi Svartisen BC

Hi Ben, You are right- my opinion/perspective on this boot has perhaps changed a bit... I am still having fit issues with it- and, in general am not finding them "comfortable". I have been doing some very long, very demanding xcd tours in the hills and ravines of the Upper Nashwaak the las...
