Re: Faster Backcountry Trail Ski

Very exciting Bob! Here is to hoping that we can soon compare notes! Here is to hoping that you soon have enough snow! Yes- bar on BP. The paper jig in your box will come pre-programmed to convince you to mount bar on BP. I am very keen to hear what you think of NNN. At BP the ski will of course fee...

I think the sidecut measurements on the Rabb 68 are incorrect?

Re: Another "help me gear up" thread

Another idea- what about using a universal binding and wearing a winter hiking boot?

Re: Another "help me gear up" thread

Another ski to consider is the Rossi BC125: https://www.rossignol.com/ca_en/rossignol-bc-125-skis-nordic-rhewf22-000-2018-2019.html Can get it in a 185cm. I am actually suspicious that the current BC125 and S-125 are essentially the same ski... I suppose a 195cn Annum or 185cm BC110 might work as we...

Re: Another "help me gear up" thread

At your weight, I can say with confidence that you are not going to be satisfied with the deep snow performance of either the E109 or the S-Bound 98. I weigh 185lbs I do not find that either of these skis is effective in deep, soft, dry snow. The current E109 Xtralite has a ridiculously soft rockere...

Re: How far can you travel, cross country, on ungroomed terrain, in one day?

Please excuse my perhaps obnoxiously opinionated response! :D :ugeek:  I am assuming that there is no steep terrain on this trek? In particular- there is little to no true downhill skiing? I would be looking strongly at a more cambered XC ski with a kicker skin. I don't see how you can get eno...

Re: Fischer E109 length advice

Ben is right- the current E109 Xtralite is very different than the previous model. The E109 Crown Xtralite does not seem to be available anymore- I have both the waxable "Tour" and the waxless-scaled "Crown" E109 Xtralite- both are 205cm. I am 5'10" and 185lbs without a pack...

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

Johnny! Wicked boots. I can't wait to hear how they perform vs your Alaskas- especially on a ski like the Asnes 68!! I too am amazed at how much they appear to have stiffened up the sole on the Greenland 75mm...I wonder of that glued sole can handle all of that torque and power transfer? I would fee...

Re: Åsnes Gamme

These skis really are all so different- each with their own special place! To me- the only reason for a distance-oriented Nordic tourer not to have a ski like the E99/Gamme 54 in their quiver is if the snow is always deep and soft. If one's backcountry snow typically consolidates and firms up, then ...
