Re: The UP Conditions Report Thread

sheesh, thanks connyro. obviously i have amazing observation skills and memory. hope to see you up there in a couple weeks... I'm hoping to get out there at least for a day. It is a pretty great time and I encourage anyone in the region to go. The terrain at the Porkies ski hill is great and the re...

Re: The UP Conditions Report Thread

Breaking out the Vectors yet Conny? If you are, is it filled in enough for the downhills? Yes, it's Vector time! Downhills are mostly filled in. Should be better by next week. How's the snow holding out down there? It seems like it's been warm and rainy down there this season. I still have a dent i...

Re: The UP Conditions Report Thread

Re: The UP Conditions Report Thread

We had a modest warmup and rain event last week which FINALLY set up the base. Over the last couple days, we've gotten at least 12 inches of the lightest fluffiest LES I've seen in a while. Superb skiing! Another warmup for the rest of this week into the 30's and then a "Colorado Low" is e...

Re: Alpine Touring/Telemark skis- grip wax versus scales?

Do you use your waxable Vectors on groomed snow? I'm obviously not LLA, but I have skied quite a bit on the non-scale Vectors in 180cm on groomed snow. They are pretty fun actually. They hold an edge well on firm snow, considering how light these skis are and the fact that they are a BC ski... I've...

Re: Alpine Touring/Telemark skis- grip wax versus scales?

The scales on the Vector BCs are really good for climbing. Way better than any kick wax I've used. Also, I HATE to endlessly fiddle with my ski gear, so simplicity is important to me. I like to get to the top of the slope and go down without fussing. Skins and wax and fooling with bindings, and all ...

Re: the magic and power of grip wax

Does anyone have any experience with Rex Tar Universal for kick wax? Supposedly, it works in a temp range of -1C to -25C. It sure sounds like it could help simplify kick waxing for variable conditions and may save some dough. Would love to hear some feedback on this stuff: http://www.rex.fi/en/gripw...

Re: Skis too long?

I ski those skis, but the 210 cm ones. The main concern with these skis IMO is the camber and not the length. I'm at 5'10" 180 lbs and I have trouble compressing the camber fully. It's not a problem in fresh deep snow, but I really notice the camber on firmer packed trails and climbs. In my sit...

Re: The UP Conditions Report Thread

Lots of new snow up this way. It's COLD so the fresh, deep, soft snow is very slow. As a result, low-angle is not happening and there's just not enough snow for the steeps yet. Great for climbing with scales though. 0106181321b.jpeg Snow gauge says it's still relatively thin. There's close to 2 feet ...
