Re: Satchel’s Neophyte Nordic Backcountry Adventure Thread

So a few thoughts: Have fun! You are already doing this. Think about setting the scales with your weight, kicking off them, and gliding on the other ski. Repeat. You'll get into a rhythm where it won't be "shuffling" but an athletic striding, striving forward into the snow. There are great...

That's probably a good question for Voile, their website is pretty clear...

Re: 2017 WoodenSki dot com inventory is up

Those asnes are beautiful. Saw them on the website and almost sprung for them but didn't. Jealous, but glad they are being used and appreciated. My old trysilknut tourers were pretty haggard after 40 alaskan winters so last winter bought a pair of ems model 2000 off woodenskis. I believe they are 5...

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails

beginner skills 2. Our skis are too long for each of us (~ 12cm longer than our respective heights), I think this is very pertinent. What length 88's and what's your wife's weight according to this graph? <150 lbs. -169 cm 145 - 190 lbs. -179 cm 185+ lbs. -189 cm I'm not entirely convinced that AT/...

Re: Ski Movies

So this was totally me at Jay Peak last week when they had amazing snow, before the big melt. https://youtu.be/YBtN4gRtXOU What the hell is wrong with everybody? On a related note, Marcus Caston is has an interesting style where he drops his hip as he rolls into turns. It's almost like an exaggerate...

Re: BC90/Excursion 88 binding suggestions.

I use Alico Ski March leathers with BC125 and Voile 3-pin cable bindings, although never attached the cables. I love this setup for XCd through rough tight backcountry. I'm kind of thinking of something like this with a Rossi BC110 for you, if you want something in between. The jump between the 70 ...

Re: Alpine Touring/Telemark skis- grip wax versus scales?

Do you use your waxable Vectors on groomed snow? I used waxable Vectors on groomed trails and when the conditions were nice (ie NOT BULLETPROOF) they held an edge nice and were fun-enough-did-the-job, quick for their width, skis. A little high-freq vibration on harder stuff, nothing too terrible. D...

Re: Voile 3 Pin Cable Climbing Wire Compatibility

So I just mounted up some Voile 3 Pin Cable bindings to my new Madshus Annums. I was rooting around in my box of ski junk and I found that I had two sets of heel climbing wires. One set from Black Diamond O3's and one set from G3 Targas. I tried to put both of them onto the heel plate of the 3 Pin ...

Re: Help A Northeastern Trail Runner & Backpacker Build His First Nordic Backcountry Set-Up!

Nice! I am remounting my 78's now back to NNNBC as we speak This makes sense! Would be interested in what you think of your waxless E99s versus the 78. I can barely use my waxless E99s- too little grip... I really like my waxless crown E99's-- 205cm. They have more rocker than I would like for this...
