Re: Voile Objective BC- good grip, not a full review but thoughts

I've noticed the lightweight skimo crowd skins up the Sherby trail to avoid the masses of sheeple creeping up the Tuck's trail. Yeah and they hide behind blind corners and underneath knolls and are a hazard to skiers who are skiing the Sherb fast and with purpose. It's not as wide as it was in the ...

Voile Objective BC- good grip, not a full review but thoughts

This is such a great ski. I have 3 178cm pairs-- a prototype demo ski that is stiffer and heavier than the production ski-- I use this one on high angle steeper terrain where I need the power and chattering is not acceptable. I think is has the aspen core. I don't tend to use these frontside due to ...

Re: Asnes Mountain Tour 51

So this is really interesting-- from the picture your WL have the skinlock integration, while Asnes website shows them to have no skinlock adaption. This is good news! Glad the 205 worked out for you in the WL without excessive drag. Connie's Way is a great trail. I would have been interested in joi...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Fischer Excursion 88

Nice review ! The 88's have been my go to skis for the past 2 seasons and I really like them. I only wish they would come with waxable base option. Fischer Outtabounds Wax... same ski and dimensions, I’d say very, very similar flex, but no rocker, you need to ski the shovel more. It exists, if you ...

Re: New rant... Backcountry/wide skis and telemarkers

Not sure about that - the video in the first post literally says "skiing on fat skis isn't skiing". Also the people in this thread are saying they want the long skinny cambered skis of old but everywhere else on this form preach the benefits of "Nordic rocker" and wider tips for...

Re: skis for making miles

So for example- Let's say you consider an E99 Crown in a 180cm- in order to get enough grip... I would also consider a Fischer 78/88 in a 199cm. The 78/88 is less cambered and softer than the E99- can get away with a longer length- you also get the Easy-Skin attachment... I’m 6’2” 160lbs or so with...

Re: New rant... Backcountry/wide skis and telemarkers

So poo poo my "trendy" wide skis with AT boots/bindings all you want, I will be skinning by 7 am on a wednesday powder day and back to work by 11, saving my precious vacation hours for spring backcountry trips with the exact same skis only lighter boots. I'm certainly not pooh-poohing you...

Re: Asnes Mountain Tour 51

Where did you go yesterday? Can you remind us how much you weigh? Did you find yourself slipping with the WL on hills? I too, have this ski (last year's model- got it on sale!), in WAX and use the skin exclusively. I got this ski to tour in Switzerland before I hurt my shoulder, and it never happene...

Re: skis for making miles

There is extensive Asnes Gamme Fever here on this site. The E-99's are slightly more rockered, lighter, I would say less tough. The Gammes are faster, smoother, quieter, but heavier-- but not by much. I have both skis and love them both, the E99 comes in waxless but I find myself reaching for the Ga...
