FS: Fischer Outtabound WAX 189cm classic! oh my!

189cm Fischer Outtabounds WAX. The non-rockered double cambered juggernaut. Legend. The precursor to the Sbound-88/Excursion 88 but in WAX. 88-68-78 Black Diamond Riva Z bindings-- cables go to at least 45euro. I have a 47euro boot and THEY DON'T FIT. I do not have the extenders. I am almost positiv...

Re: Final selection for my first XCD kit: Åsnes Combat vs. Madshus Eon (Wax/Waxless)

Lilcliffy would be the best person to answer here since he has both and has written extensively about both of them, but in a nutshell the Combat Nato is heavier, stiffer, less rockered, more camber. Think soldier carrying heavy loads over distance in unbroken snow and less turning. I always wanted o...

This is always a hard call. NNN-BC gives you a better connection if you get a boot with a very stiff sole, like the Alaska, and you pressure your ball-of-foot correctly to engage the rails on the binding. If you can do this, and NOT pivot off the toe bar, it's a very solid boot to ski connection, bu...

Re: When skiing was beautiful, an art, an expression of self..

I was in a class with an Austrian instructor once when I was in my teens; he was very much the young buck instructor image. remember one line from him: " You should caress the snow as you would your mistress..." Or pretty damn close to that. True story. Great story! Is your buddy in this old Austri...

The Indy Ski Pass (and other fun multi-mtn passes)

Lots of big many-mountain passes out there, you can almost choose your flavor now. I have a midweek pass at my local hill which gives me 1/2 off at some other close mountains. I'm going to supplement it this year with the Indy Pass, cheap and at least three mountains I'll use it at. I hope it takes ...

Re: When skiing was beautiful, an art, an expression of self..

Great photos! So much wisdom and talent on this forum. My goals are modest. I am happy if I have a day of skiing without injury and get back to the car to have another day. I ski alone most of the time, so I don't know if I have grace and smoothness in my skiing. I do know if I am not centered and ...
