Re: The Ultimate XCD Boot: The new Alpina Watermelon DOUBLE!

So if I'm already at a 47 Euro, I'm basically just screwed, right? This is a great idea for multi-day trips. The problem with the Alaska, as great as it is, is that you can't pull a liner out to dry overnight. If you're in a tent (such as moi) you are kind of sh*t-outta-luck to get your boots to dry...

Where are you skiing? Pictures? I am excited for you, and jealous!

Re: Alpina BC 1550

No, the manuals. Not the automatics. There is the MAGNUM, the MANUAL, then the Auto. The Autos are terrible, avoid.

Re: ALPINA DISCOVERY 80 SKIS

Why not? Looks good for that mission, basic classic XX-(xx-20)-(xx-10) sidecut which is tough to go wrong with for basic touring. My buddy has a different pair of Alpina's and they are well constructed. Make sure to get the right length for you.

Re: Voile 3-Pin Hardwire Binding

This is a great review of a great binding. I have personally fallen in love with this binding and I have put it on many, many of my skis. LC alluded to my addition of the X2 cartridges. My feet are long enough that the angle of the steel bar that connects the X2 cartridges can be accommodated with t...

Re: Voile 3-Pin Hardwire Binding

I think one of the major flaws of the 3 Pin Cable is that the cable can't be stowed behind the heel pad during XC skiing or climbing, but other than that I can't see anything wrong with it. The Voile cable can be locked behind the heel piece if you get the Traverse Riser. https://www.voile.com/voil...

Re: 3.6 vs 4.1 drill bit

Maybe then it's due to what Atomic calls the "ultra-lightweight carbon insert that runs the length of the ski like a stabilizing backbone." In any event, I see no harm in using the 4.1 bit. OOoooooh that sounds super techy and futuristic. They must be good now! "Stabilizing backbone&...

edit: Oops nevermind I missed the "GT" part and didn't realize it was a different ski Anyone with experience on the 160 XCD GT ? Feedback ? Thanks post #2 I own the standard OAC XCD 160. I am not impressed with it. Short, slow and unstable as a XC ski. Not enough width to float in deep sof...
