Re: 7TM preload and DIN

Agreed. I have used the same DIN as my alpine bindings for years
The heel piece is finicky. If it bugs you the Bluebird Day heel levers are a good replacement.

Re: Tele newbie... I was given these, have no idea what they are.

A great ski in its day and might be useful for you in the future. The GT has a modest wax pocket while the Comp did not.
For now, pull the binding and mount on a shorter, medium width ski. You will learn much faster. The optimum mount position for turns is further forward than for striding by the way.

Re: New ski length advice

i'm a fan of narrow skis as well but manufacturers these days tend to make them as race carvers which can be overkill for telemark out west. Again there's the question of where and how you ski. NTN does favour higher mass skis, wide or long and layers of metal and rubber but that's normal for some p...

Re: New ski length advice

It certainly depends how you like to ski. I am the same weight, etc as you and lean towards longer skis but sometimes regret it. Length has a bigger effect than with older skis. 174 is better on the groomers and at speed but new skis do ski longer than your current skis. They will be harder to keep ...

Re: How to tele: 3-pin only

Shorter skis help a lot with 3 pins, especially if you want to ski steeps. The tails of longer skis drop much lower than with a cable and can hang up on the pitch behind you. A lower stance can make heavy snow easier but use slightly shorter poles to keep your arms down and plant very deliberately. ...

Re: Anyone know what happened to NordX?

We had one event at the Olympic park and Red Bull 2016? at Lake Louise that I know of. One of the xc companies even made a twin tip ski for switch landings. It just didn't capture the imagination I suppose but then who would have thought skimo would become so big? So it was good that they tried. htt...

Good find. Thanks for that!
I've wondered where the film makers of Apocalypse Snow have been hiding out.

Re: Racing setup advice....

Flat skis have gotten hard to come by, at least on sale. I removed the plate on a Rossi Hero Master 18m GS and mounted Rottefella Freerides directly to the ski without incident. I eventually had reservations about skiing that fast and had the original setup restored. The ski shop didn’t blink an eye...
