Re: How to tele: 3-pin only

Shorter skis help a lot with 3 pins, especially if you want to ski steeps. The tails of longer skis drop much lower than with a cable and can hang up on the pitch behind you. A lower stance can make heavy snow easier but use slightly shorter poles to keep your arms down and plant very deliberately. ...

Re: Anyone know what happened to NordX?

We had one event at the Olympic park and Red Bull 2016? at Lake Louise that I know of. One of the xc companies even made a twin tip ski for switch landings. It just didn't capture the imagination I suppose but then who would have thought skimo would become so big? So it was good that they tried. htt...

Re: A vid for you twisted minimalist typos

Good find. Thanks for that!
I've wondered where the film makers of Apocalypse Snow have been hiding out.

Also, if you haven't watched it yet there's good racing footage on livestream.com (tele ho).

Re: Racing setup advice....

Flat skis have gotten hard to come by, at least on sale. I removed the plate on a Rossi Hero Master 18m GS and mounted Rottefella Freerides directly to the ski without incident. I eventually had reservations about skiing that fast and had the original setup restored. The ski shop didn’t blink an eye...

Re: Bluebird Day Heel Throws

I tried them on G3 Targa's and Moonlight TTS then ordered a couple pairs. I just wanted something that's easy to snap up and won't fall off. I'm happy with them. Didn't try the tour or beer functions.

Auld Lang Syne

I’m entertained by the history here. The best bump skier in our parts turned his leathers to a frankenboot using a bandsaw on old alpine boots. So I am curious about your set up in the bad old early days, with maybe something interesting along the way. I’ll start: Lovett Mountain Tour 210 cm, Geze 3...

22D Outlaw X

Didn't see this discussed previously so what would the lightest stock spring tension of the Outlaw be equivalent to on the Rottefella NTN? I'm a lightweight green spring user.

Re: Just throwing this out there...

Classic shot Harris! Interesting thing about the use of speed suits in World Cup racing is that snowboard cross consciously wanted to keep the look of their non-FIS counterculture. The ski cross people look to be leaning the same way. Ski-mo, telemark and to some extent XC and bicycle racing suits d...

Re: Just throwing this out there...

The speed suits and NTN do look a bit out there but that's the direction racing goes. Before the Olympics were in Utah there was a vote at the Telemark World Championships as to whether wider skis with sidecut would be allowed. At the time most were competing with cable bindings but everyone was on ...
