Re: of kicker skins and such...

Side question: does kick wax eventually ruin the glue on kicker skins? My experience with the Madshus Intelligrip skins is that the harder waxes (at least blue, green, black) do not leave any residue on the skin glue, but soft waxes (intended for about 0 Celsius weather= red, purple etc. waxes) leav...

Re: If you could only have one ski for your most typical skiing...

Probably my Glittertinds with pins for most of what i do. I can’t do tele turns with them except in absolute hero snow. But they’re great for long tours and reasonable kick and glide speed when the trail allows. I usually ski them with Alaskas. They’re comfy, maybe a little too soft, but they work. ...

Re: The Finest Leathers: Nordic Norm 75mm Backcountry/Telemark Boots

Very cool! Will these need to be stretched, or will we be getting some on snow reports this season? They need a stretch but not as severely as did my Alico Teletours. I have hope they will be out on the snow this winter. LC, Skaugs Sports' info seem quite unreliable, they are calling the Crispi Ant...

Re: The Finest Leathers: Nordic Norm 75mm Backcountry/Telemark Boots

Some of these Alfa boots boots look very interesting, as do the Crispi. But when I’m going out for a ski that will involve a lot of up and down (I’m in Colorado so plenty of up and down to be had), I’ve had good luck with my Fischer BCX 875s. they don’t seem to be too popular on this forum but they...

Re: Asnes Gamme 54 length

Are you in Colorado? If so, Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder stocks the Gamme 54 (and other Asnes). They have a 200 cm in stock. And even if you’re not in Colorado, you can order from them. It’s a great shop (I have no affiliation, I just shop there....sometimes). https://www.neptunemountaineering....

What length BC55, E99 or similar?

Yeah, I was taking about the Madshus skis, which I do find to be pretty soft, at least compared to others I’ve tried (or at least flexed in the store). Funny story about the stiff camber on Rossi’s BC skis. I used to lead trips for the Colorado Mountain Club. There was an older woman, we’ll call her...

Re: of kicker skins and such...

I have never had satisfactory glide on my mohair kicker skins. I’m using Black Diamond kickers and they’re about the width of the skis I use them on (Madshus Epochs). So I use them only when absolutely necessary for a climb. My wife just got a pair of “skin-skis” for use in prepared tracks. I was sk...

Re: What length BC55, E99 or similar?

Hi Snow-Mark! What are the length-weight recommendations? ........ An aside question: For rolling to moderate terrain why would you go with a short length for a ski like the Glitt? Well, I guess the manufacture recommendation would be a good place to start! I believe it is 185 for the BC55. Not sur...

Re: Happy Nordic-Touring New Year 2019!

Happy new Year to all! Spent my Christmas morning skiing and new year’s eve skiing with my wife. Pretty good. Except that means neither of us will make past about 9:30, at the latest.

Wishing everyone plentiful snow, good times, and safe tours in 2019.
