Re: Newbie questions all about skins

I can’t say klister will outperform the 30 mm X-skin because I don’t own one. I’m very happy with the performance of klister. That being said Start Violet Oslo works well, I haven’t had to use klister yet this year!
You will eventually, as your snowpack will give you some warmer temp klister skiing.

Re: Newbie questions all about skins

You really just can’t leave klister on, it migrates like caribou. An X-skin might be easier and actually more cost effective, a tube of klister doesn’t last like a tin of wax.
However klister performs very well.

Re: 2022 Falketind 62 Xplore 196 cm First Impressions

I am a mechanic, I started in precision tooling and went into the building industry. I deal with men, a lot of times what matters is getting things done, we don’t really care about hurting feelings. The ski is a unique design, but it’s still a ski. A ski flexes based upon the forces applied to it. A...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

@lowangle al looks like a great place to ski.
@riel You and Woods are harsh, making the new guy break his own trail when someone is in the lead breaking trail! Must be a tough group to get into!

Re: Newbie questions all about skins

I have a 45 mm X-skin, it’s been on a ski for 50 yards max. Too forkin slow for me!
Buy a 30 mm
Edit That’s 50 yards in 5 years. Never had anything I couldn’t climb in wax or klister
45 mm too slow!

Re: Trail breaking ski

dave52 you’re definitely in my weight class, so yes those Ingstad must be too short. I’m on a 210 Gamme. Now here’s a question, when you climb in powder to you ever get snow sticking ? Because when I climb in powder I usually get a little snow stick. When I get to the top, I rub the skis clean, and...

The 184cm Kendos from last season are working great for me in MI on ice and the slightly softer versions of same

That’s funny, and true if you’re still skiing where I used to see you ski.

Re: 2022 Falketind 62 Xplore 196 cm First Impressions

I can break trail in 12”, that’s as deep as it’s been. I have kicked through drifted areas where the ski disappeared under the surface, but it was fully supportive. Now when you ask about length that’s a tougher question. While more cambered and stiffer than the previous model, it isn’t a classic do...

Re: Voile Resort Durability?

I haven’t heard anything negative about Voile durability. I check into a couple of forums, they are popular skis and I don’t hear much negative about them period. I know a lot of the Voile skis aren’t warranted for Telemark bindings. What I hear the problem is with people skiing T-1’s, Hammerheads o...

Re: Trail breaking ski

I have the new FT Xplore, I haven’t had it in deeper than a foot. It breaks trail fine. It does have rocker, but the ski is longitudinally stiff and fully supportive. It kicks and glides well. It’s really light, turns well. It is a really good ski. I’m 190 plus a pack, and the 196 suits me fine. Wha...
