Re: Carbon fiber poles vs. aluminum?

Phoenix would please post a photo of your leuku ? As for carbon poles they can be very durable. The most durable pole I use alpine skiing were some Scott Carbons. They were chewed from edges unbelievably, however they never broke. Well I blew the tip up, not sure if that counts? I have two pair of B...

Re: 1st time waxing for ice/crust

The Oslo Violet is a different wax from anything I have used. When used over a base of Swix Polar it scrapes clean very easily. Red / Silver is a pain to scrape, a little baby powder helps. The GCW Darn you! I don’t need to try anther wax! However I could use a performance upgrade from red / silver....

Re: Ski Marches or Mountaineers need adjustment

@John Dee Actually it was a beautiful sunny, calm 20 degree day. It was nice to be outside and getting a little exercise. It beat the heck out of crunching numbers in the office. As a bonus the city rep is a cute young 50 year old women that is pleasant to work with and easy on the eyes!

Re: Powder Touring Ski? Voile Hyper V6 BC?

My first question is what boot or boot type do you plan on using? If you plan on using leather the Falketind is both an XC ski although not in the same class as a Nansen, and a capable downhill ski. If you want to go T-4 the Vector is very capable, and reliable sources to me say they kick well

Pretty sure modern baby powder is pretty smelling corn starch, in a convenient shaker bottle.
Real talcum powder was causing serious health problems for women, maybe men too!

Re: 1st time waxing for ice/crust

Klister is gooey stuff, but it sure does work good. The easiest way to remove it is to sprinkle baby powder on the goo and scrape. Add baby powder and scrape as necessary. Once I open a tube of klister I store it in a zip lock with baby powder inside. The baby powder keeps my fingers from getting st...

Re: Sharpening edges on waxless skis.

Sounds like the base is higher than the edge, and you certainly will not be grinding the base flat on a waxless ski. Why not just sharpen the side at ninety degrees, and use a diamond “stone” to remove any burr on the base side of the edge.

Re: 1st time waxing for ice/crust

Blue Extra might work. I’m at the point, where I put on two thin coats of what I think will work. If it only slips a little, I’ll add more and extend the wax. The wax must show me something from the start, or I go warmer. However ice and wet are where klister shines. I would go Swix Blue Extra, Star...

Re: Ski Marches or Mountaineers need adjustment

I never had to go more than two clicks with my Ski March boots with any of the Voile 3 pin binding I have used with them. That would include two sets of 3-pin cable and a set of 3-pin Hardwire. I only use one click for general kick and glide on my Ski March. Obviously your situation must be differen...
