Re: Alpina Alaskas lacing pattern: technique
lilcliffy Gareth, I use that top knot to “lock” in everything below. I then don’t pull the top two eyelets quite as tightly. I think once the ankle bone protrusions are locked in, I get at least a little more comfort by loosening the top two eyelets. I know I made some adjustments to lacing style t...

Re: Canada Freedom Convoy
No those red hats will be brought to heel. Simply branding leaders as terrorists and seizing bank accounts, and other assets. Those red hat leaders will be more concerned about their families than leading some sort of resistance to democratically elected government. The followers will be lost. The m...

Re: Canada Freedom Convoy
The Great and Wise Prime Minister of Canada has started to crush this right wing, racist, bigoted, act of terrorism in Ottawa! In a shrewd move by declaring this to be terrorism, he now has claimed the right to seize bank accounts of these terrorists. Because these terrorists are making life difficu...

Re: Wax pocket Q
When I have added a coating it was because the wax below was sticking. Consequently the base layer had been chilled by the snow freezing and icing on that layer. Conversely, the colder wax applied over the top is warm from being in my pocket. While warm wax may not apply as thin, it does spread easi...

Re: Wax pocket Q
I have placed hard wax over soft wax, with success. The theory is that the hard wax will not stick. The thin hard layer while not sticking allows the snow crystals to grip into the softer wax below.
It makes sense mechanically to me, and it works!

Re: Gear Basket
Krummholz I've heard a lot of Ski March horror stories. I’m glad I’m the fortunate guy they fit well. I didn’t have any issue with breaking them in either. I look forward to your reports on the Transnordic, it will be nice to know there is an option when I need another boot. BTW, I really am enjoyi...

06EE433C-8A37-4927-8E1B-FBD545E626B2.jpeg Woodserson I am using 2 waxes to replace Swix Violet Special. The 1rst Vauhti Pro Pure White works well on non transformed snow. It has good grip and it’s fast! It’s also expensive. The wax for transformed snow, which for me is more common at Violet tempera...

Re: Gear Basket
Well Krummholz and Al, I’m counting on some reviews of these boots when you are able. I shouldn’t need a heavy leather 75 mm boot for a long time, but I’m happy to see a new boot being manufactured in the heavy class. Norwegian welt boots are difficult to obtain, and fit is a gamble. It’s good to se...
