Re: Getting Xplore boots in the US, also XPLORE system question

Over at REI it looks like a lot of negative reviews of the Alpina Alaska (non XP model) about the sole glue coming undone ?? Any review of owners of the Alaska boots from the users here on the forum ? I have heard of Alaska 75 boot’s soles cracking at the duckbill. Some have offered it may be the f...

Re: Considering the Gamme

tkarhu I am not a trained Nordic skier, however I found the Gamme quite easy to ski. I’m 86 kilos / 190 lbs. I am skiing a 210 cm Gamme. I frequently climb straight up sections that have fish scale skis leaving herring bone tracks. I think you will be quite pleased. BTW, congratulations on the Gree...

Re: Live from Whitegrass

Darn you JVSki , I’m working on some municipal construction estimates and decided to take a break and see what’s on TT for 5 minute break. I read where you mention your friends, and remembering how kind they were to show me around a bit, and then the other people I met flashed in my mind. Well, it’s...

Re: Classic Pins: Rottefella ST vs. Voile HD Mountaineer

I've been pretty set on the RST cable binding for my next setup, but it does seem like climbing wires (I'm assuming this means the little tab you can flip up to reduce calf strain while climbing) would be a nice option. Easy enough to buy the Voile heel piece and climbing wire. Voile is a great com...

You’re becoming quite the beast! Not that I can talk, but photos would be cool. That’s from a guy that rarely takes photos!

Re: Getting Xplore boots in the US, also XPLORE system question

Ira, you’re not really pushing the limits of equipment,NNN-BC offers plenty of control as does 75 mm. There is a limit to equipment making us better skiers, but we all look for that gear that will take us to another level

Re: Asnes Falketind 62 vs Falketind Xplore

Yes, the kick and glide is dramatically improved. That I can report. Acceptable for an XC ski on a consolidated base, and also very good in soft snow. It is also much more stabile in deep snow. Those are the only definitive statements I care to make currently. Thank you #fisheater If I understand c...

Re: Incomplete skiing. No continuity between shuffling on the flats, a line to ride uphill and groomed snow downhill

https://www.tognar.com/multi-edge-tuning-tools/ The multi-edge tool for $50 will take care of your edges. You’re probably better off getting a base grind every year or two. I’ve done the hand base scraping and hand structuring, it was 20 years ago, and most likely the tools are better. I think that ...
