Re: Voile comparison-contrast

I also only have experience with the 3-pin cable and the 3-pin HW. I find I can give the HW's a few extra twists and they seem to be more active than the 3-P cables. I find the 3-P cable's tension limited by my ability to pull it over the boot. I hesitate to attempt more tension out of the HW only b...

Re: The Åsnes Thread

Great to hear that Asnes is still going strong! I must admit I prefer the graphics/colours of the previous models... I wonder if they are going to keep making the FT62? That would likely be my next purchase- with NNNBC on deck. Also want to try the edgeless Kongsvold... And- of course, the new Ings...

Re: Ski Review: Åsnes Storetind

Great review Gareth, I'll take notes and try to do better next time. I know exactly what you are saying about this ski based upon my experience skiing the fjellski of this group. Al, I wanted a ski that would tour much better than my S-112, so I passed on the FT-68 at Neptune. It is a much better de...

Re: Avalanche Gore Range Colorado 2016

What's a parent to do? That covers so many things. I started late in life and my son's first year in high school is not the stuff of my dreams, I am pulling my hair out. My only advice to you is at 26 young men really do start respecting their parents. Since you are XX, remember we are wired differe...

Looks like your ski partner is a hardy northern girl. Hope you had the right skis trying to keep up with her riding those Hoks ;) !

Re: The UP Conditions Report Thread

I only drove by Ripley once, it didn't look really large, but I really liked the tilt. I would really enjoy it on my current rig. Nice photo, that's for sharing.

Re: Best ski for Nnn-BC xcD

Pete, I bought my FT 62 for two specific purposes. The first was to tour for the purpose of skiing downhill. This could be on the short vertical, but nicely pitched hills around my home (glacially deposited). To ski abandoned ski areas, where I would use winding trails to access the top of the hills...

Lake Huron 43 30N the Levithon and the Ho that Came to Dinner

Well , March 24 was Palm Sunday, so my last time on skis was March 23, and that was rental snow. My shoulder season has been really long. We thawed end of February, and despite more 2"-4" snowfalls, there was never any trail skiing snow after February at home. A couple friends and I made a...

Re: Alico Nordic March sizing

[quote="lilcliffy"]Hi Rod- I am a 42.5EU, (27-27.5 Mondo) and normally wear a 9-9.5US. I have trouble with this boot because of boot volume- not length. I have a small volume foot and I find these boots to be large volume. I am diligently training the leather so that they stop pinching my ...

Re: Ski Care

I would imagine you could buy a tin of Nordic grip wax and cork it into the bases. You could wipe it on the edges as well to protect them. You will want to protect the extruded bases as well (the scaled part), you could use grip wax there as well. Grip wax costs money too, and you probably will need...
