Re: What is the ultimate compromise ski?

Verskis, I ski my FT 62 at the resort (almost) using Gareth's Swix polar for a base wax method. I still have not ironed in the polar, because I am cheap and I'm afraid I will waste it. I spent over twenty years finishing concrete, I get some pleasure out of buffing wax to a shine with the cork. I pr...

Re: The Finest Nordic Norm (NN) 75mm Backcountry Boots

Just received a cool pair of Burgundy Crispi Sydpolens from the motherland. This is promising! Super comfy, well insulated and super stiff soles (halfway between the Alpina Alaska and the Alico Ski March or Garmont Excursion). True leather telemark shoes/boots! Rock it! Very cool! Will these need t...

Re: Best All around gears.

Welcome HGC, For your boots I would recommend that you go to the Community Ski Reviews section of this forum. There has been considerable discussion of Alfa boots including sizing. Secondly for the binding, there are supporters of both binding types here. For lighter gear there are probably more boo...

Re: NNN-BC versus Pins: Just the facts

I at one time frequented a kayak fishing forum that disintegrated into name calling and bickering over equipment choices. One of the older and wiser members had in his avatar, a little slogan to the effect "Never disparage the way a man seeks his enjoyment, unless it is something that is hurtfu...

Re: PSA - Carry Your Scraper in Lake Country!

Well the first thing I thought is I always carry a scraper, and a cork, and two colors of wax. It all fits in the pocket of my soft shell. However saying I always carry a scraper would not have been very helpful. When I read Al's post, I thought that's more like it. I actually do use my skis as a sc...

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

I am immune to all this talk about Alfa boots. My new Alaska boots fit like they were custom made for my feet. I have enough Ski equipment, I am immune to this thread. Really, I think ;)

Re: NNN-BC versus Pins: Just the facts

Wow Johnny, quite a collection! So many skis, but you are in a land of much snow. I will soon have 6 pair of skis mounted, but their uses don't overlap too much. I don't think I will strain my brain too much deciding which ski to pick. I am also curious as to the differences between the Mountain Rac...

Re: NNN-BC versus Pins: Just the facts

Yep, it's a matter of choice. But I can't believe people are still buying heavy and bulky 7lbs boots while they can buy 725g NNN-BC boots that offers A HELL OF A LOT more control than pins for downhill skiing on steep terrain and a much smoother XC experience at the same time. And for half the weig...

Re: NNN-BC versus Pins: Just the facts

I am waiting for snow, flexing my first NNN boot in the comfort of my living room. It might be a year or two before I would even be able to provide comedy relief in a Bri-7 / Johnny video. I am very happy there are both options, however I will admit it would be very nice to not feel the need for mor...
