Re: How was your season?

I had a poor season this year for my backcountry adventures. I had some nice snow in December, but it was sketchy thin after that. I had great resort skiing with my son who is now my ski partner at 14. Skiing leathers and skinny skis helped make the intermediate runs a lot of fun. I hear a lot of ta...

Re: which ski climbs best

Eric, I have a question for you. Is it only the profile of the Vector that does not suit you? The Objective has pretty much the profile you desire, but I believe the camber more closely matches the Vector, than a s-112 or bc-110. I do know that my s-112 can be a bit squirrelly when touring on hardpa...

Re: Military surplus skis?

Al, I never had a nice union job. I closed my business when I was offered a job as a superintendent supervising commercial building projects. I worked with mostly union trades for five years, those men worked hard, but had good pay and benefit programs. That job ended after Sept 2008. I am now an es...

Re: Military surplus skis?

I found out why I am able to turn my Anses USGI skis pretty easily on hard pack. First they are only 200cm as I was planning on having my son on a pair and Coleman's only sold two pair of equal sizes. Secondly I have not weighed myself in quite a long time, many years. Even though I wear the same si...

Re: Military surplus skis?

I have a pair of the Anses Surplus skis from Colemans Military Surplus. I like them as a trail ski, they are pretty fast when I get the wax right. Lilcliffy posted a nice review of them in the gear section. I know they are different than the Karhu military ski, which I have no experience with. FWIW,...

Re: La montagne St-Pierre, La Rédemption, april 17th 2017

Bri7 the camera skills as always were very good, however the joy also came through very clearly. Thank you for posting, it is nice to still see winter as we are fully into spring. It was nice to see Benjamin, I do not recall a post of his this winter, which of course is greatly missed. I will be loo...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

It looks pretty cool up there Rongon. Too bad you couldn't get more turns in, but it is pretty cool still seeing winter from where I am. I ski some steep narrow single track, I can think of a couple of hills where I yell from the top a couple times, " when I come around the bend I am going to b...

Re: Kom or Excursion 88 good all around BC ski's?

Mr. Sage. where did you get those E-78's? That is a better price than I can find online. and I have not seen any left at 189 cm. I am tying to avoid GAS (gear acquisition syndrome), but hanging out here avoiding GAS is like trying to avoid gambling in a casino. Funny thing, I had a buddy get married...

Re: Altai Kom skis

Lots of speculating that can only be answered by biting bullets and trying and selling the failed ideas to fund new ones... I can't agree more Woods. I think if I was just starting out I would keep the USGI, and buy an E-88. Then my decision would be whether to buy a Kom or a Vector/V-6. I still co...

Re: Altai Kom skis

Woods, I get your analogy to a degree, but I have not put my hands on either ski. I am impressed by your videos, and I am impressed by your enthusiastic reviews. I will wait and read the continuing reviews, and play with wax on my skinny skis. I still want to see how well I can do with wax, I really...
