Anyone with Experience Skiing Summitcone Scales?

I skied a Summitcone Pariah this year at the ski hill and I really liked it. While I don’t really like scales for low angle skiing, I think they are really useful where full skins are required. In the East, just because you pulled skins, doesn’t mean traverses aren’t required. While wax would work w...

Re: The Alberta XCD thread

Inspiredcapers i have an Asnes Tindan 86 at 187 cm. I’m 5’ 9” , 190 lbs + (I don’t have a scale, I always way over 190, usually less than 197) When skiing in the BC a pack. Downhill in light, cold, deep, powder it is quite excellent due to the generous rocker. Climbing in Michigan I generally use l...

Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?

Lhartley Voile has great service, they are very knowledgeable and will help in anyway they they are able. The blue cartridge bindings are they old style Hardwires, which are no longer made. Some guys really like that binding. The red cartridges are on a 3-pin Hardwire. Typically that binding has bl...

Re: Thoughts on Mounting Position & Knee Pads

I agree, there are no hard and fast rules. There are good starting points! I like Swiss cheese on a Rubin sandwich, not so much on my skis.

Thoughts on Mounting Position & Knee Pads

I know the two subjects are unrelated, but who knows it could be an interesting thread….or not! Once upon a time, it was routine to mount bindings for Telemark behind center or the boot on the marked boot center mark on the ski. Pins on balance point is still the general rule for XC oriented skis, b...

Re: Asnes quiver of two

SkiLaronLee I still have a Gamme, have a Falketind Xplore, I also still have the Tindan 86 for more serious downhill touring. I still need at least 3. If I could justify it’s use I would buy a 205 cm Nansen for a turnier trail ski. Yes, I can turn Gamme, and my trails are twisty. I would buy the Na...

Re: Elan Ripstick 88 vs Atomic Maverick 86c

For a wood core piste ski I like my Summitcone Pariah. It’s 97 mm underfoot. I was kind of wary about all that width, but it was fine on Vermont firm. They have a ski in the high 80 mm for this year, similar core. That seems more reasonable to me, but I am handling 97 mm underfoot just fine. Check t...
