Re: How was your season?

I realize everything is subjective but all the skiers I know rated this past season as the best.season.ever and the spring season looks like it will last a long time more so I found your take baffling.[/quote] Alpental started out great, and we had some great storms, no question there, but then each...

Re: How was your season?

I feel for you brother. We had a great start to the season. I dare say Colorado type conditions, sun, cold temps and good snow, a rare thing in the PNW, and then we got some stellar lite dumpage, also a rare PNW thing (usually it comes in deep but watery), but then it seemed after every dump it rain...

Re: Tele vs parallel.

Well I appreciate everyone's input, even when I'm argumentative and opinionated concerning. It is just, well, I love this thing we do. I always have fun talking skiing. I have even more fun actually doing it. And then also talking about it. And then doing it again. And then drinking a beer. One thin...

Re: 22 Designs Vice/AXLE limitations.

zippering bumps in 160 SL tigers.... talk about the wrong tool for the job. SL skis are way too hooky for that. That's what my Hart F17s are for - absolute blast in the bumps tele or alpine. Boy would I love to have a pair of F17s. No argument there. But the thing that caught me really off guard us...

Re: Tele vs parallel.

No, you missed the points of my posts completely. My first point is that a good alpine carver on tele gear can out carve a tele carver because the tele is a relatively inefficient carving turn due to the mechanics involved. And because of that it is my belief that there is a lot of fun and pretty co...

Re: Tele vs parallel.

I think you may have failed to fully read my earlier posts that you were responding to because I distinctly described what I consider a carved turn over an edged turn: i.e. looking back and seeing a solid, no-skid arc left in the snow between transitions. As to Bjron's comment, my nephew races, and ...

Re: Tele vs parallel.

I don't know much about P turns, but I would think anyone can do a one ski biased turn. When I watch alpine racers on TV they sure seem to have weight on both skis and that is what I'm shooting for when I do P turns. How can you get both skis to flex equally if both are not weighted? A good p-turn ...

Re: Tele vs parallel.

I remember making turns like the guy in the first video with Rossi Hellgates on groomers 15 years ago. I don't mean to start a war, but screw it, I'm going to call bullshit on that. Or stun me and post the telemark vid of the century on youtube of yourself cranking those turns out. Do you even know...

Re: 22 Designs Vice/AXLE limitations.

That sounds more like a too little preload problem in the heel lever than a pivot position problem. Did you try to add more preload? Yep. That was also my first assumption. Turned out to be the pivot pin location. Haven't had a problem since. Admittedly boots may factor in as a contributing source....
