T-man: I had a change in plans...Solar guys still haven’t finished power hook up for my off-grid cabin. So I will not be in Vt this weekend.

New cabin has walls, windows, door and roof. No woodstove in there yet. Still staying in oldcamp. Should have solar power and propane backup generator done this week. No doubt the best color in years...Senn a few flakes of snow already here in Floodwood. Will be by Vt last weekend in Oct. camp rehabilitation time?

Agrred...
But, and this is from personal experience, start on the bunny slopes, and end before they get tired. Don’t upgrade to steeper slopes too fast, even if they are doing well. One rough oversteep run at the end of the day, and they may not want to try again for years.

I have to say eastern Idaho was the friendliest place I’ve skied lift line. Teledance being a prime example.

These look like the trails in the Oregon cascades where I learned back country on wood birke beiners. I agree with the suggestions above; I often left one ski in the deep powder, and turned into the hill when it got too fast. I never wax the scales, but have used blue wax just in front and behind (during green wax conditions). I know people who have waxwd scales, and never got the wax back off; effectively ruining them.
