Re: Thinking about new boots, 75mm vs NTN, from my perspective.

Yes. I must say first that I have never skied any NTN, so no first hand feedback on that. I handled a pair when they were first out; my immediate impression was " jeez, these are heavy and clunky". I can appreciate the lack of duckbill would be nice in some hiking or climbing scenarios. As far as wh...

Re: How to tele: 3-pin only

Yes Rod, perhaps we are saying the same thing... I fully agree that Madshus took over the same skis and renamed them. My point was when that happened, production and quality control were by Madshus, rather than Karhu (which faltered in it's declining years).

Re: How to tele: 3-pin only

Rod, I beg to differ on this. More accurately, Madshus skis WERE Karhu's skis... however, as I mentioned, it was Karhu producing the skis when the move to China occured, and the quality faltered. Madshus is Madshus, and has been for many decades. Karhu had a good run of it; I dealt with them for man...

Re: How to tele: 3-pin only

"I recently picked up a pair of Annums but haven't mounted them yet. There is no boot center mark, but there are three mounting lines (about 1cm apart) for "pin-line" based on mondo size, basically for small, medium, and large size boots. Before I mount my Annums, I will measure the chord center and...

Re: longtime lurker requesting ski advice

Like Al just said, the temperature and conditions right around freezing are very difficult to wax for, for anyone on any ski; especially if the snow hasn't yet all consolidated. This is territory where a waxless ski makes life better. That said, for the other 150 or so days of the season in Colorado...

Re: Moving binding for better grip

I'm a little late to the party, but this, in a nutshell: "If they are on balance point....leave the binding there and work on waxing." Personally, I wouldn't think about moving the binding to expect better grip. Unless you're not mounted correctly to begin with. Don't be afraid to extend your wax po...

Re: XC oriented ski for max float on dry snow

i haven't read all of the extensive response here, but from the original post, and some of what I have read: I would not be looking at a waxless ski - at all.

Re: Questron for ya... Which skis for 3-buckle boots?

I'm always saddened to see an unanswered post, so I'll offer something for what it's worth, as one who's never skied your choices: 1) The Crispi's, in and of themselves, should be able to handle any of the skis you mentioned... it's more about whether they're compatible with you style and skills. Gi...

Re: Cheap skins?

"I'd love to invest in better uphill and ski mountaineering gear in the future.. but this is just a way to keep my season going for a bit while theres still some snow"

I'd think the Sidestash's should be fine. You have the Voile 3 pin cables? Just undo the cables for the uphill.
