Thanks Al, you make them sound pretty good.
"If you can afford the Objectives" - indeed, they don`t give those babies away. But I turn 60 in the spring and maybe I deserve a nice birthday present.
Cliffy, that is precisely the conundrum - whether the tradeoff is a good one. And complicated by the fact that i am pretty much always carrying between 25 and 40 lbs of pack. At the lighter end of that range i do still get some glide to my kick in the right conditions, but that is only going to be a...
So you are right in the Voile recommended range for the 164. I'm about 152 and almost always carrying a multi-day pack. Looks like I could go 171 or 178 according to their recommendations, and be in the range. Probably I'd lean to the shorter ski, as that has always been the way I've gone in the past.
Thanks Al - My boots are excursions - somewhat modified. My Rainers say 180, though they measure more like 176. That's nice to hear about the Vectors. With those being somewhat wider that the Objectives, if you find them to be good gliders then the Objectives should be even better. May I ask what yo...
Since I know from various posts that Phoenix has Objective BC's and seemingly pretty wide experience to go with them, I'm directing this question to him, but if anyone else has input I'd love to hear it. Here's the scenario: Me - not a very good skier. But considerable experience with multi-day tour...

Since the OP mentioned those numbers i assumed similar skis, but they of corse could be completely different flex even if s...
I have Atomic Rainers - virtually the same ski as the Excursion 88's (some say EXACTLY the same ski but I don't know that for sure). While I like them, and have gone many places on them including across the Sierra, I think that for powder it aint' what you are looking for. Still too skinny and too m...
