Re: Advice on a BC touring setup?

One more thing before I call it a night - I would be remiss if I did not mention the military surplus skis made by Asnes that you can find at Coleman's: https://colemans.com/shop/cold-weather-gear/u-s-g-i-cross-country-downhill-skis-2-pair/ $30 USD for two pairs, and they are great skis. They are ac...

Re: Advice on a BC touring setup?

But if you want to maintain some flotation with a relatively narrow touring ski, it is important to select a ski in a traditional length. More length provides the higher surface area for flotation as opposed to being wider under foot. But again, the extra length can make the skis more challenging to...

Re: Advice on a BC touring setup?

And you're bang on, the Glittertind was rebranded as BC 55 a few years ago. So you could find specs / reviews / used skis under either name. Just a note on the MGV+ label though, that the name for one of Madshus waxless "fishscale" patterns. So depending on which way you decide, you could go for BC ...

There is a ton of excellent information in there to dispel the myth that waxing has to be tedious voodoo and they give some great guidance. At the end ...

Re: PSA - Carry Your Scraper in Lake Country!

Haha yep good input from Al with the ski edge for sure. No idea why I didn't think of that in the moment, would have been way more efficient! Early and late season I have been pocketing a couple waxes, cork and scraper in case temps change when I'm out and about. But up here you don't often see much...

PSA - Carry Your Scraper in Lake Country!

We've had an odd winter so far in Northern Alberta. Cold snaps to -25 C were a bit earlier than usual, but also some unseasonably warm stretches back around 0 C with sunshine recently. Out for a little jaunt the other day through the bush, decided to make a straight shot across a small muskeg lake. ...

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

Hey Johnny / Ben (and anyone else who has tried on or owns multiple Alfa boots!), In your experience, how do the various Alfa models fit relative to one another? Would it be safe to assume that the EU 41 Kikut Perform will fit the same as an EU 41 Skarvet Advance will fit the same as an EU 41 Guard?...
