Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Climbing up and turning on the way down. Happy to be out in the woods in the snow.

Complete skiing. Near perfect continuity between flats, uphills and downhills.

Lo-Fi, I hope you are OK with me stealing your answer to my 'When to drop a knee' question and using it as a new topic for my rambling. The way you stated it has really stuck with me. I am now striving to have near perfect continuity between flats, uphills and downhills. We got snow! Light and dry s...

Re: Tried an Old Trick for the First Time and...

I have just come home from a 19km circuit with Violet on and it was utter perfection. An unalloyed pleasure, -1° C, last nights snow. Perfect. I'd try Violet before skins every time, I have to say. Red/Silver gives me the heebiejeebies and makes me reach for the skin skis on the other hand And now ...

Re: Tried an Old Trick for the First Time and...

I was also out in more or less the same conditions as fish. Blue was working well on Saturday but then no grip on Sunday. I tried red/silver for the first time on Sunday. I found it much easier to apply than red wax. It was also easier to remove. I do not think I will try red again any time soon. It...

Re: When do people find time to ski??

Getting boots on and off in the parking lot is a PITA. I might give it a go. Thanks.

I would like to know if I got this right. When I search for Scarpa F1's I find an alpine touring boot. I expect that maybe this was as typo and that you telemark in Scarpa T1's.

Do you drive a car wearing your Scarpa T1's?

Re: When do people find time to ski??

There was a time when I was working as a ski instructor, to get the free season pass, and racing at the same hill. Between teaching lessons, race practice and races I was at the hill every day it was open except Sunday. Being young and poor was a good way to ski a lot. I am not sure how to get back ...

Re: wax vs scales vs XSkin vs klister

[...] Wax kicked ass compared to scales the last two days. [...] I do not have experience in the mountains or much nordic skiing experience at all. But here it my opinion anyway: If wax can work then ski it with wax. It is sooo sweet to grip at first and then as soon as you break-away down hill the...

Re: When to Drop a Knee

We got several inches of light fluffy lake effect snow this morning. Then at 1pm or so the sky cleared to a perfect cold blue sky. Finally! My problems with wax were a combination of conditions and technique. With the temperature in the mid 20s and rising, and blue wax from heel to tip I headed down...
