WTB: Climbing Skins

Hello, We finally got some snow here so I have been messing around in the backyard with kick wax and some old K2 Heli Stinx that I hope to use as sort of burly cross county ski. I do not think this ski has a wax pocket. I have no idea what I am doing with wax. It sticks when I want it to slide and s...

Re: How wrong is my ski/binding/boot setup

Hi phoenix. Thanks for the response. It feels strange, but the whole free heel feel is a little strange to me still. It is hard to know what is 'right'. The rocker launch doesn't really bother me. It actually feels good to have a little spring from the heel when I am striding on flat ground. If I am...

Re: Gear Basket

I am really tempted by these. I am trying to decide if it is worth the gamble on the waxless pattern.

Re: How wrong is my ski/binding/boot setup

I think I am making progress learning to tele. I got out on something a little steeper, a resort black diamond, and was able to feel the sensation of walking down the hill with each lead change. I really enjoyed that. Now I am wondering if these boots are too warn out. The right boot seem to flex mo...

Re: BD Riva Z cable length. Adjustable? Different lengths?

Thanks Al. I have been resort skiing with the stopper flipped around. No trouble so far. This was a very helpful suggestion. I am happy with this binding. Now my technique and physique need some help.

Re: BD Riva Z cable length. Adjustable? Different lengths?

Al, I opened up one by binding and tried to add tape. The fit is so tight that the spring scrapes off even a very small bit of tape when I try to reassemble it. Have you done this successfully before?

Re: BD Riva Z cable length. Adjustable? Different lengths?

Hi Al,

I was able to get the cable out and flipped the single spacer over. It seems to be OK even without electrical tape. Will it fall out somehow without tape? I don't see exactly why I need to tape it.

I seem to have a better adjustment range this way. Thank you for the suggestion.

Re: BD Riva Z cable length. Adjustable? Different lengths?

Thanks for the responses phoenix and al. And a big thanks for the offer to help! I still need to get a wrench and my skis in the same room together and actually open up the binding. I am not sure what is in there for spacers. al -- So far I see why you like this binding. It is very lightweight, can ...

Re: BD Riva Z cable length. Adjustable? Different lengths?

I just swapped out my Switchback X2s for some Riva II bindings fresh off ebay. I have the opposite of the problem that Wooderson described earlier. I would like more tension on the spring. Does anyone know how I can add more spacers to the cable on this binding? I am not sure if there is an inexpens...

Re: When to Drop a Knee

Thanks for all the responses. I do not see much, if any, soft snow skiing in my future. I am OK with 'wanna-be telemark artist' status. I will have as much fun as I can on the groomers, hard pack and ice.
