The real question is I wanted to ask: What are some fun things I can learn to do on Tele skis that I can't do on alpine gear?

Well, that would be dropping a knee. Can't do that on alpine gear!
Its so obvious! Now I just need some snow.

Re: When to Drop a Knee

Thank you for the replies. The suggestion of going over rolls and steep terrain brought back a memory from learning alpine skiing and racing. You can get away with skiing in the back seat and/or in a wedge (snow plow) until you get on something steeper or less consistent. That is when you either hav...

When to Drop a Knee

Hello, I am very new to tele skiing. I hope to get out and do some touring but most of my skiing will be at hills with lift service. I am surprised by how much I use my quads in every single tele turn compared to alpine turns. The upside, so far, is that my knees seem to take much less impact and do...

Re: Transition from Telemark :(

Hi Robert, I see now that you already answered my question in your first post. Thank you for taking the time to repeat it for me. I read the full story (and looked at the photos!) about why you now need rigid boots. Please let us know how you like AT after you get your setup put together. I have to ...

Re: Transition from Telemark :(

Hi Robert, I do not have much to add about skis or AT gear. I would like to ask you one question about your surgeons orders. Did the surgeon say 'no tele' or something more like 'no skiing in bindings that do not release' ? I have been through one round of orthopedic surgery myself. I was injured wh...

Unexpected Climb

Sunday I was out skiing with my family at the local rope-tow hollow trying to learn how to drop a knee properly. With the binding remounted forward I can make some nice carved turns (alpine, anyway). I think I finally have everything mounted right and the correct boot for the setup. The rope that go...

Re: Warm Again this Winter is not My Favorite

I watched it get deep over here on the west side of the state. Constant snow for the entire work week. As soon as Saturday morning rolls around its all melting into a soupy mess. It seems like I might be mowing grass again instead of skiing. No good.

Re: How wrong is my ski/binding/boot setup

I skied that vintage T2 for years, it was their standard model before changing it to 3 buckles. It'll do everything the T4 will do, and more. I like the fit and cuff height better on those T2's, and they're still light... will tour or turn over a pretty wide range; it's a very versatile boot. Thank...

Re: How wrong is my ski/binding/boot setup

I was not able to find a T4 and I got impatient. My T2 has two buckles plus a power strap and looks a little different than the T2 that is made by Scarpa today. Maybe I got a womens' model after all? I attached a photo. Last week I went out on the tow ropes with the T2 boot and no other changes to t...
